Shir was it only the californians that moved here. What about the ones from Minn, Mich, NY or other states? I have met some of them here. Even some from Washington.

My children already do not know the Oregon I knew. I can't take them there, it is already gone. Do you remember a comercial where an Indian stood alooked at the forest gone, the river poluted and trash on the ground. One tear rolled down his cheek. We should make it again and have a man with an Oregon hat on facing him with one tear coming down his cheek - the caption could read "Thanks California"

I do not completely understand why, but I have not found the disregard or arrogance or lack of understanding among the other states that have moved here. On the contray, I have found that they welcome our way of life and have tried hard to assimilate to it, appreciating it. They came and stayed because they understood and welcomed what we had to offer. Not to make it what they came from

Shir I have seen some indian places in other states(nothern, western or southern), where the indians don't do any better than white people. They pollute just as bad. I am part indian ... so me saying this, isn't being anti native american. It is just telling it like it is, whether indians like it or not. Only thing is we get to scalp the white man back with our casinos, . sorry yall, I couldn't resist that.

I would agree with you Shir... alot that came here,,came out of states that had a viable logging industry themselves.. they also has the trees and similar landscape that we have,,so they came here and appreciated what we had,,they also did not have that (ATTITUDE)..California is well known thru out the U.S/ for that "ATTITUDE"

Do you people who are bashing Californians really think that you're the only ones that remember special times, places and ways to live? Born and raised in California, I have many of the same feelings that you do about "YOUR" state but about "MINE". Times were different back then, all over the country. Every state. Every neighborhood. I cannot show my children the same safe life that I lived, and in another 20 years they will feel the same way. Orange groves were eaten up by business. Great open fields where we could play all day making forts and creating games were eaten up by malls, streets and more houses. You are not the only ones that have lost something special about where you lived/live/come from. You can blame Californians all that you want, but that's a narrow minded view, don't you think? People that came from California couldn't have done whatever it is you suggest they did, unless people in Oregon were willing to take their money. And, by the way, Americans are free to live wherever they choose in this great country of ours. If we are not all one, what are we?

Proud of my California heritage, and proud to now be an Oregon resident.

When you destroy a culture, take away it's language, it's custom's, disrespect it's knowlegde and way of life - and we replaced it with what? I don't see how you can expect them to become the worst of what we replaced it with. Is that what will happen to Oregon?
By the way, I am not an angry person - this is just a great way to get to know you guys. I do believe though in what I say

Now you Oregonians know how us native Californians feel. We had a pretty good thing going until all those damn people from New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Texas and Oklahoma showed up ! They sure as hell ruined our place !

So some of us began to migrate north to try and find what we had lost. But at the same time I'll bet a great number of the Californian's who have moved up here are not natives. I recall when I lived in Ashland during the early 70's. We'd have people who would come into the bank and deposit their escrow checks after selling their house to some stupid Californian for ten times what they paid for it fifteen years ago. And the Californian would come in and laugh about how he was able to buy a house up here so cheap he could pay cash and still have half of what he sold his house for to put in a long term CD.

Most of the people in Ashland who sold out were moving to a place in near Libby Montana where they were buying houses for next to nothing. Wonder where the good people from Libby were moving to to escape from the "Damn Oregonians". Canada ?

Hey, back in the late 70's, I had a boss who told me "The only constant in your life from now on will be change !" He was so right. The nice little town I grew up in and lived the first thirty years of my life.......is now a city of 400,000 people. How did that happen ? Who left the door open ?

And if we really want to hear who has a beef in this whole thing.......lets go talk to the native Americans.

Hate to tell ya this girl//but those Other Califonias have the same mentality and attitude as the firstcomers.. not much has changed..and beings that you have been gone for a long long time,,you have not been a (WITNESS) to what really happens here.. yes,,they trash out our state and leave their garbage for someone else to pick up.. and yes.. they do all the things Shir claims they do.. To this day.. born and raised Oregonians still do not like Californians or Arizonans..Or anyone else that comes here with that CALIFONY attitude!!!!We have been lucky though.. now they just keep going and head up to WAshington and move there.. poor little washingtonians....

I stand firm on my belief that the actions of some people should not create discrimination against the masses. Not all Californians have the Hollywood "Califony attitude." There honestly are a lot of Californians who don't know what botox is!!!! lol

I am appalled that all of the efforts during the civil rights movement in the 60s obviously failed in other arenas, and that blanket discrimination of masses of people still persists.
