What is your IMMEDIATE thought if I had this on my PROFILE ?
:
:
Bi Polar and sometimes Schizoid Tendencies.
Truth is Schizoid is now Dropped off by my Dr. but at one point it was used as a PARTIAL Diagnosis. Due to just the thought of 2 people were after me and the POLICE even verified to me they lived in my complex. I used to be pestered at weee hours of the early morning by these 2 and it was no imagination. Facts will stay with me.
.
.
I know ! Once in a BILLION BLUE MOONS does someone even talk in e mail form. Talk is CHEAP and I want a FACE 2 FACE so you can see and get some feel for me.
So I must say I will leave "I am On Disability or whatever" and NOTHING more. If asked I will tell you its not open for discussion other than a few lines. Otherwise its IN PERSON or FORGET YOU.

I am. BUT as you well know it can relapse. 3 times n my life. BUT now that I do EXACTLY as told by my Dr.,Social worker. I am STABLE. But still have MOOD SWING problems more along lines of anger management over little petty stuff "I" do. Like dropping something or whatever I personally did. No problem with other people though. JUST MYSELF. Learn to deal with and hope for the best. But unless a Lady asks first its like I said I will keep it to myself. What I put on my profile is fine by me. I am so NORMAL in EVERYWAY until I crash or get Manic. BEEN 10 years since that happened. Without the support I have no telling what the situaton would have ended up like.
See you wondered and you are MALE. So IMAGINE a woman seeing this ON MY PROFILE !

Personally, that, at least for me, I would never put that in my profile. My disability is PRIVATE.
LOL, let me explain that one, for
those
special people who choose to get to know me, I will tell them thru private e or by phone, which ever comes first. BUT, my disability will not be put up for all to see like some caged zoo animal. There are far to many people who will take pot shots at someone for being honest.
So limit how you are truthful. I know that sounds nuts, no pun intended, lol, but you get my point.
Even after all the media has brought illnesses out, people are still dipshits. When you mention bi-polar, first thought that they see is, one flew over the coocoos nest. This is not so any longer.
So as I have said, pick and choose who you tell, make YOUR life easier, not theirs. I'm not here to make anyone feel at ease with me, either they are or they aren't. It takes an open minded person to understand that my diagnois(?) does NOT define who I am, I do that all on my own.

At first, I disclosed my disabilities on my profile. I took them off afterwards. I like your idea of telling someone through a telephone about it.

I usually tell about my FM during our first telephone conversation. It's not easy for me to live with, I could never hide it. If they can't understand, they need to move on. Easy as that.

** Exactly, just as much as why I'll tell people about my epilepsy and ADHD. If they can't live with it, they can go elsewhere. Life is much, much too short.

If *I* am interested in someone after chatting online a few times, I am pretty direct about my disability, that it's genetic and I've had 13 surgeries to date. If they think they can handle it and we meet, the dropping jaw and deep gasp sometimes confirms they can't handle it afterall. LOL That's THEIR problem, not mine.
I try not to take it personally, because I'm much more than my physical deficits. I gracefully say it was a pleasure meeting them, attempt to shake their hand (some think it's catchy..hee hee) and genuinely wish them well.
Not everyone is going to be able to handle my visual impairment and limits (non-driver etc.). Then again, not every one is going to run from me either. Disabilities are just like other traits we have. Some people will find them enduring, and just part of who we are; others will be offput by them.
Most of us are 5s on the 1-10 scale. Have you ever seen the most beautiful people say the meanest/ugliest things? That 10 drops to a 5, or less, pretty darn fast! I'd rather be closer to a 3, when my disability shows at first glance. The people who get to know me will soon realize I'm a solid 7-8 on the inside!

yes sir you are pretty right if I understand you. thank you for your comment andit was taken in good faith on my part. I hope I didn't sound like I slammed you because I definitely am NOT!!!!! Thanks again. Why the term was changed from Manic Depressive to Bi Polar is a play on words in my opinion and it really sounds worse in my opinion. I DON'T care that I am diagnosed this because the Prez,Politicians,ER personnel etc. etc. are BI POLAR and either don't acknowledge it or think they are not. Think about this last sentence for just 2 seconds and I bet you will see a light bulb go on!!!!! What is a SURGEON????? I DAMN sure do not want his GOOFY lifestyle.
OH WELL the World is Spinning still so I can't be too nutty can I. BESIDES "one flew over the cuckoos nest was about me" been there, done that and I am a SURVIVOR!
