I just have a problem with putting my needs before other people.
Because nobody is gonna take care of me and my needs except me.
I don't desire to rely on anybody for existing in the huge chance they will cease to be.
I know that sounds very negative but it's preventative measures to ensure that I am self-reliant and able to be alone and happy with it.
I don't need love.. it's nice and wanted but I need oxygen, food, and water.. not someone cuddling up to me and running her fingers over my face and looking dreamy eyed up at me to live.
True love to me.. is shared between two people who when joined as two individuals make each other better.. like a team. Partners.

That's beautifully written.....I'm feeling like something is missing, though.
I mean, technically, what you describe could be said between strangers, right?.....you will try not to hurt a stranger.....if a decision has to be made, it will be based on what is best for you both, and hurts each of you the least...
The same could be said of a grocer and customer.....or a boss and his subordinate...or a doctor and patient.
.......there's more, Miss Indoubt......give us Part II, the sequel.
LOL Arkansas. I know there is more. My niece and I discussed this last night and when you in the midst of a phone conversation things just flow out and two great minds put things together. We filled in each others missing parts and came up with the conclusion. And you know how great things said and then come back to be written later lose something? Yeah thats what happened lol. It was like 1 when I wrote this and as I was typing it, I was like this is not all we said . There was much more too. It didnt pan out right. But unless it is recorded sometimes genius ideas that slip out of nowhere, slip into nowhere unless they were recorded. Hmm.... Maybe I should call big brother and get a transcript

Yes arkansas it is missing. I probably should have waited until I got it right and imagine how poetic it could be if it had flowed like it did in my conversation. It was like a lightbulb went off and you couldnt stop the words and it will almost be impossible to find the exact perfect words again.
And Eddy I see where you are coming from. Allot of us feel that way and are afraid to put our hearts out there. Maybe it is just a matter of letting go and jumping. I hear skydiving is one of the most exhilarating things to do and it makes you feel so free to fly. I think allot of our problems is that we don't let go and feel that freedom. No matter how we open our hearts we will always have a parachute to back us up. And I know all parachutes don't open. But overall they do and because it is worth the feeling people still do it because the reward is greater than the risk.

I would personally describe True Love as life’s greatest gift and greatest luxury... the type of love that is caring, kind, and patient... the type of love that does not expect anything but love in return.
Putting pride aside, there is no room for arrogance, selfishness, resentment... there is plenty of room, however, for celebration - celebration in knowing that the greatest thing I can be proud of is being able to have a love that is shared, unconditional, giving and selfless.
There is an undying devotion; an undying desire to be intimate - physically and emotionally; an undying want to endure all, hope all, bear all; an undying tendency to believe, to dream.
Honesty. Friendship. Companionship. Completion. Forgiveness. Understanding. Inspiration. Support. Faithfulness. Loyalty. A complete expression of myself to/for another and being open to another's expression.

The way I see things, why rush into anything? I mean, I've seen and talked to several on this site and others, of those several I have my picks of who I feel closer too mentally and emotionally, even though I don't say anything. I guess I don't say anything because, even though I want to be closer to them and have them more in my life, I'm the type that looks on the brighter side of things. Bright side in this case, they're here and talking and laughing with me. If I approached them with any intention outside of friendship, that would change their opinion of me and then ultimately, they would avoid me because I told them I like them. I know what you're going to say, not everyone is like that. I have seen this many many times and honestly, more times than not. So I don't rock the boat and if someone wants to get closer to me, I don't run or bite. Well, maybe just a nibble now and then...
As for true love, true love is selfless. If you have true love for a person, you don't care one iota what happens to you as long as your significant other gets what they need to survive and be happy. In turn your significant other feels the same way about you. It's these two people, both 100% invested in the relationship that give us the double 100/100 and when you do the math, 50/50. THAT is true love.

You are right theo and I won't disagree. It has to happen naturally and when one person pushes forward before it is ready to go it does change things. You kinda just have to go along for the ride and when it is mutual it will come together naturally. Great post theo.

1. Love is unconditional
That means you love someone irrespective of what they do to you and regardless of any strong negative emotions you experience in your relationship with them. Once you place conditions on your love, it's not really love it's a business arrangement. This is what you might say in a relationship..
"I love you as long as you ...."
(eg: behave the way I want you to behave)
The concept of unconditional love does not mean you stay in a relationship when it is detrimental for you. You can still love and leave.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this??

It has been said that in every relationship one person loves the other just a little more and that both know it.
So part of "True Love" is when both know that this is not the case.
Both people so are in love and in tune with each other, that the impossible balance is achieved.
or maybe its when two smiley faces hug each other

Washington I agree once it becomes detrimental something is lost and the love will never be the same. It does not mean that the love won't still be there, but it will not be solid as it once was.
