How much time are we talking about here? If you are saying being romantic and getting to know a woman very well, let's say a year? Then proposing, setting a date six months later, and then waiting all that time until the wedding night to have sex? Yes, that is delusional..........just answering the question, and staying on topic.

This one topic where there is no wrong or right opinion. So many different views but it seems each have a good reason for their validation. Personally, it is not an issue with me. I like it but it has been made such an issue in a relationship, in these forums, every thing you see in print and on tv, on the radio....Nothing is sacred.... all circuits are overloading and quite frankly it gets on my nerves. TMI...TMI. I do know you can have a romantic relationship that eventually leads to sex. Which I consider normal. But really, at this age (50) I have have enough over the years that I can live with it or without it. Companionship and love with or without sex is fine with me.

i see it everyday people in wheelchairs that are married some cannot under any circumstances cannot have sex with their spouse and they are happy and content with each other and that is what i call true love.so do i think you can have a relationship w/o sex yes i see it everyday.

First of all I would like to make one clarification...
If a man or woman...wants sex strictly to fulfill there need, thats
selfish...I never said anyone wanting to have sex is selfish.
On the other hand...wanting to have sex because you want the intimacy
that compliments your love for another..That you want to please your
partner because you want to give of yourself to them..thats not selfish
self gratification without consideration for the other IS.
But sex is complimentary...it is not the all...By the way simply
because something might appear RARE..(AS I AM NOT AWARE OF CURRENT STATISTICS)
does not mean that it is not the way things SHOULD BE!!!

i think a romantic relationship is the most wonderful thing two people can share but eventually you are going to want to get even closer to that person and i think sex does that. if you ONLY have sex and nothing else its no good there will be no relationship. i mean what happens when youre not in bed?????? All I'm saying is TRY to do things differently than you have before. It WILL make a big difference, believe it or not.
There are tons and tons of other subjects, and things to do besides concentrating on sex all the time. You can evolve and grow and learn about another person if you REALLY want to, but I guess it's an age thing. The older you get, hopefully, the wiser you get and know what takes priority when finding a life mate.
An intelligent/wiser person can control their thoughts and "re-organize" their thought processes to include more important things first. If communication is high, and the other "pieces" fall into place, the sexual aspect of the relationship will fall into place as well, if after all is said and done, that can be worked out as well. The clue is not to rush things, that's where mistakes are made and you are going to end up hurt and disillusioned again!
I think people who are insecure and simply cannot wait...run that risk, time & time again.
Oh..have to add...nooooo, this does not mean waiting 5 or 10 yrs., that's a little extreme, no??? A year or two maybe...never heard of anyone's "thingie" rotting or dropping off due to lack of sex.

Inasmuch as it's not a true marriage unless you are marrying the one who deflowers you or you've been chaste ever since that person died (with the only possible exception - abandonment by an unbeliever - being so dubious it is almost surely damnable) there would be no reason for the most high to bless with happiness any adulterous affair so it's delusional to expect a lovely bouquet from shit.

In my opinion i'd have to say YES........ that doesn't mean there isn't someone else out there as delusional as you but i think you'd most likely pass by that special someone who is more than capable of making you feel complete in every way. I don't think you can say that you truly know someone until you have slept with them, maybe it's me thats delusional lol.

photo: if someone wants to wait till they're married; whether a guy or a girl, thats their prerogative. if u know that ur the kind of person that can't wait then roll away; u will find many like urself that will be glad to jump in the sack with u. i'm living true to my morals and its no skin off ur nose if i or someone like me makes that choice. yeah call me a prude but u can also call me someone who never had stds or abortions, or tearful nites realizing someone just wanted me for sex and now ducking and dodging my phonecalls. i know whats best for me; and if thats too much long range thinking n self discipline for u then u take the high road and i'll take the low road and hopefully we both get to find the person who we love at some point.
u brought up many times "thats rare" "wouldnt u say thats a small percent" but don't forget america is not the whole world. there are still a whole lot of people in the world maybe even the majority; that thinks of marriage and family as a goal and not sex with this one and that one. whatever we do there r young kids watching us for guidance and now u have lil 10, 12, 13 year olds who think u have to have sex to be someone, to prove something; or cause if u dont something must be "wrong" with u; or that sex is something that is so overwhelming and uncontrollable and to be demanded "if u really love or like me prove it".
live ur life but don't knock others who have a different view.
