Hi I am new to this site. I was on a couple of other sites and drop them because of all the neg comments that you get once people find out that you are disable. You talk to people and once you tell them you are on a disability pension they drop you like a rock. it seems such a wast of time, so would it be better to put in my profile that i have a disability so not to wast peoples time, or will this scare people away. I have permantent back injury from a work accident. Thank you

Just my two cents, take it for whatever it's worth, but, no, a thousand times, no. No way, at least, I wouldn't. I mean, if you think it wouldn't be an issue, then by all means, go ahead, but generally speaking, IMHO, no, I would not. I would wait until I had at least gotten to know somebody a little bit, before disclosing something so, well, something that could put me in a category, or cause that person to stigmatize me in any way. And, because many disabilities still very much DO carry a stigma, even with everything being so 'studied' and open, these days, even still, there are many things people STILL choose to stigmatize. Very unfortunate they do, but it's still practiced.

I don't have my disability on my profile because I have been this way (hearing impaired) all of my life and I feel like it is part of me. If someone has a problem with it then so be it. Not my loss. I do, however, tell as soon as I feel comfortable about "revealing" my deep, dark secret, which is usually within the first hour of our meeting (whether it be online, on phone or in person). Most people can tell as soon as I open my mouth that I have some kind of an impairment, whether it be "speech impediment" or whatever.
Now, I was accused recently by a martz1958 of wasting our tax payer's dollars by being diagnosed with cancer and I should do everyone a favor and die so "my disability social security" be available for someone else. I want it to be known that I have a job and I work everyday that I am scheduled to work. I do NOT draw disability social security nor do I get any other public assistance. Mr martz1958, however, got his back hurt at work and is now drawing disability social security. He also told me to get off my lazy a** and get a job, which I already have a job so I don't see why I should get another job. So, as you can see, I do so much understand the prejudice that is prevalent within our society. However, it is right here on DateHookup and it is also right here on this site.

Thank`s Bethinim and Bookshort for your info, very apreciated, If people would look at our disalotofgood in us instead of our disability, it would be a lot easier for us. Maybe one day. thank you and good luck

Because a cedar stands alone in a forest of birch dose not mean it is less of a tree, yes i believe we are all equal, disable or not. It took time but i have accepted my back problems,my anxiety, my depressions. And now i try to put a rainbow instead of a wall in between those who shun me. It is always a battle but the battle is keeping me alive. I am doing the best i can. one day at a time and today i am not ashame of myself.I feel good.

It's hard to say on that subject. It's pretty much whatever you're comfortable with. I'm disabled but I don't think it should matter. I mean you let someone know but they shouldn't judge you based plainly on that.
