Can I join the high blood pressure group? I thought I was so cool, not having anything wrong with me until last June when I found out I had really high blood pressure. I was scared to death and really having a pitty party! Long story shorter, I decided to get up and start moving and change everything about myself. I've lost a lot of weight, walk a lot and probably most important, changed my way of eating. I feel so much better, I didn't even know I felt as bad as I did. I also had had HBP for a long time undetected. It's no fun taking the medicine but I feel(sort of) like a new person! It seems I made it with very little heart damage and nothing else. I know I'm one of the lucky ones and I'm so sorry for the situations that those of you with out of control HBP are in. If we lived closer I would organize us into a walking group! How much fun would that be?????

Doctors do get kickbacks and the nurses do too. My ex was offered money for every prescription she got for a patient when she did OB screenings. She refused to do it but the docs did it anyway. They get a lot of perks from the drug companies.
My sister in law has lunch catered EVERY day at her office by the drug reps for chemotherapy drugs. You can imagine how much that costs if everyone is doing it all across the country. The research BS is just that. It's about making money. They buy a lot of these drugs from federally funded shcools that do research too. Millions made off those.
THAT is why these things cost so much. You would not believe the stuff she brings home that they give away.

I divorced my pain in the .....! So got rid of one problem. As for the high blood pressure group you can count me in. As for exercising I am not sure if I am not getting my heart rate up or what but I work (physical work most every day) and my blood pressure has not done a thing up or down. I will say on the high cholestrol I did manage to get it down 20 points but that was still not enough still had to go on the pills for both.
All inherited! Lucky for me no real aches or pains other than tired all over from working I consider that a normal day though.

I have fought that exercise thing all summer. I always did a lot of physical work and was on my feet all day, the last thing I wanted in the evening was more of the same. I have had that exercise battle all summer but I finally lost! I know the weight goes faster, and they say the best way to bring the pressure down right now is to go take a long walk. I almost doesn't make sense that getting your heart rate up would lower your blood pressure but it really does work, I proved it to myself.

You can put me in the group but since losing 130 lbs. not much of a problem anymore. Can't do the walking thing though till I get knee replacements. Never had bad cholesterol and my heart is in real good shape no buildup to speak of.
I do have the aches and pains mostly from the knees but can't lie down and quit though when my thyroid was bad and they hadn't found it, I thought I was dying and pretty much gave up till they found it. Feel so much better now cannot believe it sometimes.
In case anyone does not know about it I started college in August and am having a ball.
I have a growth on my face under my left ear that I have to have a biopsy on a week from Friday, but am optimistic.
