 I guess i'm the lucky one here.
The oldest turned 16 and our house seems to be the one where all the friends seem to hang out and spend the night on weekends. Because my sons have had the same friends for quite a few years now The parents are all on the same plane as to what our kids are doing and we cooperate with each other on security. we all go out from time to time and If im gone, one of the other parents will stop by and check on all of em. I think they like staying at my house because I'm gone the most of all the parents and they feel more freedom. I don't think they even know how many times they are being checked on each night.  It is definately hard to date being a single parent. I have a 3 year old and it's been her and I since she was born basically.
I can't even rememeber the last time I went on an actual date that didn't involve Chuck E Cheeses.

But I do have good family reinforcment.......I get out here and there. But I am also a drummer in a band so when we play gigs...grandmas time to watch. But they are with me 24\7.....

 Well honestly, I'm not quite there yet......legally separated, waiting for the slow wheels of the courts to turn....still have a cutody battle looming.........

However, I am shooting for joint custody with me as the custodial. IF that happens I am looking forward to my weekends "off" so to speak - that is when I will do my dating etc.

I don't delude myself that it will be easy but I won't just roll over and play dead either. My kids are 15, 11, and 5 though.....

 Being a single mom of 2 beautiful daughters is great - but also tough having to do everything alone. I have to work full time, take them to actvities and appts be the good cop and the bad cop and I'm taking care of my mom who is sick also. I get upset that I never get a break it seems - but I also get scared that I won't have an identity when they are grown. But I have to put them first and won't even try to plan a date with someone that I don't feel that I could someday introduce them to. Yes it's tough and you get lonely and sometimes want someone to take care of you for a bit - but it will happen if it's meant to. And the more you look for it the more you won't find it -But keeping busy and filling life with good friends is a help. It could be how u meet the someone that understands your situation and crazy schedules and wants to be more involved - I keep the faith that there is a great guy out there that who will thank my ex for leaving so that He could be part of my and my girls life. Good luck to all single parents and if you haven't heard it in awile - keep up the great job!

 Wow!!! Some how I always thought I was the only single parent out here not really dating because of having a child. I agree with all of you about it being hard to date when you have kids. I have a 7 yr old and he is the light of my life. If it wasn't for him, I think I would break down and give up. But I am a true believer that things in life, whether good or bad happen for a reason. If I am meant to be with someone then that is my destiny. If not then that is the way it's got to be. I try and stay positive as much as possible, but then there are those moments alone when my son is at his dad's house for the weekend that it hits me sometimes maybe once a month and I get a little sad, but I make myself move on and continue with life. I always think of my son first when it comes to dating. If I think for a moment that this is not a person I would introduce to my son then I would rather not date that person.

But one thing I do know for sure, I would not trade my son in for anything or anyone. I love to be a mom!! It can be fustrating and hard at times, but I love it. The unconditional love is awesome!!! Yes, kids do grow up and they may say they hate us, but we know that is not true deep in our hearts. Our children will always love us so long as we love them and try to understand them as much as possible!!

I'm having a hard time right now with my daughter who's 12 but what can you do?? sometimes i just want to heavily - but I don't. We are all awesome people and we do a great job.
