Im sorry OP but I find dating over 40 to be really easy!! Im 53 and I could have a date every night if I wanted to. The age range is so varied now. I date from 28-48 when I want to. I just recently broke up with my g/f but when I've wanted to go out I have. I will admit my work opens up lots of opportunities for me so the menu is varied. GOOD LUCK and keep trying, some lucky guy will set his eyes on you!!

More males than females are born, but then, as the population ages, the males start to die off (since, in spite of popular politically correct bullshit, the males bear the most of the stress in our social survival! Why don't some of you spoiled females try to disembowel some guy from, say, Vietnam or Iraq, or Afganistan,with a f***king KNIFE!), and us survivors are left with more more women to choose from. It's to the MALE'S advantage with the passage of time. Men are dying like flies! That's why all these stinky, fat female porkers who're alone are so upset when they realize they're going to spend the rest of their lives ALONE! Time to evaluate your life, MAYBE? Go on a diet, MAYBE? Lose half your weight and quit being in denial about how unattractive you are, MAYBE?
OK! Now I've pissed you off! You know, I realize I have an obligation to take care of myself too, and I have to work hard TOO to not get too fat and stay toned. I watch my diet and exercise a lot, but the payoff is I feel really good and can do stuff I could do in my 20's and 30's! And that includes SEX, you dizzy dames! I want to bend you over a table! NOW!

It only "seems" harder..... At our age (in our 40's) we have less people that we interact with or socialize with an a daily basis ,like when we were in school. Grade school we had lots of friends ,high school the field narrowed,then college the field even got smaller,Thten by the time you get on the job,outside of collegues and clients ther isn't that large of a field of acquaintences anymore. Don't worry it's just a perception,if your out going enough you'll find someone eventually.

All the damn rules have changed since we dated in our teens!
Too bad, I tend to break all the rules. I learned the rules for playing guitar, then broke them all and became a better guitar player.
I never had much trouble getting dates, but was thinking I would never find someone I wanted a LTR with. Keep trying, I dated for 6 years after my divorce and finally met that special someone here on DH.

I think it is because we get set into our own ways and to independent.
Makes it even harder to let another person to come into our lives.
Even though thats what we are seeking and hoping for.
Just keep searching and looking.
Keep your mind open and your heart hopeful.
He is out there and he is looking for you too.

I just hit 40 last year. Ive been on a few of these sites and havent exactly been overwhelmed with emails. I put it down to women just not finding me physically attractive, but if its age then that would explain things. So theres nothing more to look forward to now than quiet nights in by the fireside on your own with your dog and the TV. Thats pretty lousy. I was kinda looking forward to some action. Looks like an Arnold Shwartzenegger dvd shall be the only action ill be seeing for the foreseeable future.
Is there such a procedure as age reversal surgery?

Dating is not difficult, it is finding just one person you want to date more than one time. In my case, it is where I live. A small rural area has slim pickin's for single males around here. I also find that men my age obviously have a past, that has put a lot of fears and mistrust in women, as well as older women do about men. I really try to not allow my past to make me to rigid or paranoid about the dating process, but to enjoy it and make the best of it. It only stands as a fact that my life is shorter and not taken for granted as when I was young, so I want to enjoy what life I have left.
I have met the gammit on different types of men....there always seem to be something that prevents the relationship from going anywhere. I guess we have lived life and have to deal with not only our own experiences and what phase of life we are in, but we also have to deal with your dating partners life.
Everyone has said just about what I am thinking also and there is no one set answer, but many reasons. Give and take is realistic....otherwise, I think a person is going to never find that relationship or dating partner. I never found perfection when I was younger and I am realistic to know perfection is not a viable goal for myself or for any other man I may find.
Ya know...all this talk and slamming about older people or "fat" people is just an excuse for your own short comings. If you don't want an older or fat person to date, then simply don't date them. I know misery loves company, but the bashing is getting very old and only shows your character and tolerance level for those less perfect than yourself. Let it go already! Geez!

very hard there arent that many people our age anymore they are all taken by now or scared and very protective. its to bad age makes us a little more cautious. but thats life gotta keep trying lol

perhaps you are outta practice...or you are afraid to get your heart broke...AGAIN!!!...or b taken advantage of....you just have to learn to forgive and forget and stop dwelling on the past...you might miss out on a opportunity to meet a good woman...you can't judge ALL of us women the same....bc we ARE not the same...there are few of us good ones out there...perhaps more poeple should stick to the "Seven date no sex" rule...what EXACTLY is hard about it, anyway??????

Eddy sweetie, I have to agree with you. Some of these women on this site(DH) are totally classless, do not know how to behave as such as a woman should, and have the morals of an alley cat. And then they wonder why their man cheated on them, or left them and wonder why they are single. I hope they do not teach their children these behavior patterns. JMO

its hard to find someone that isnt so shallow
its hard cause dating has turned into a job ressume
then you have the ones that are phonies
they post some great profile
then change it after you go out with them
they arent as funny as they think they are
they are so dry
no ideas what to do on a date
like someone just drained the brains out of them
I have tried to meet a guy now for the past 3 yrs
I get on here in december
If I get one by spring cool
But after that I am gone not on the pc till after fall

I've only been dating since November and at first it was challenging because I hadn't done that for 11 years...then I realized that it helps a lot to let go of any expectations and try to just be in the moment, cliche as that may sound. Every person is different, unique and usually has something nice about them, but you have to give them a chance to let you see that. Personally, letting my slightly formidable guard down has been a smart move. I've met some nice men and have been able to appreciate their individuality by being more open (but not blind to red flags/safety issues/etc.). Why not enjoy the journey!

Most times, the older people get, the more stuck they are in their ways and are generally speaking, on average, not willing to compromise much.
Not to mention, the dating environment, etc... changes every 5 years or so, so if one has been out of the loop for a while, it will be a HUGE RUDE AWAKENING.
Dating after 24 years...... IS a RUDE AWAKENING!!!
This may be a paradox... but while I can be STUCK in my ways, I am more FORGIVING and
compromise much better then I did when I was young. While I like my ways for myself,
I can Love and respect someone else, and accept their ways . This is compromise,
but I am thinking Acceptance.

When I was young, drugs was not an issue. Today, they are everywhere and they are serious problems that I don't want to deal with. When I was young drinking was not a problem cause I drank. Now I seldom have a beer. When I was young I didn't know what negativity could mean in my life, now I do. When I was young, girls were married or not, mostly not. Now, most of the desireable women (for me) are living with someone or married. When I was young I didn't have any sense, now I do. After going through years of an unhappy marriage, I want to be sure that doesn't happen again. Being careful takes time!

Over 40 has a different meaning to me. I haven't had a date in over 40 years. Don't expect much has changed though. I plan on taking my first date out to the drive-in. They still have drive-ins, right ?

I have to agree dating is definitly not harder except with kids I have less time to go on typical dates. I do manage though and if you don't exempt someone by looks and go for what is in their heart you have a much better chance.
