Hi. I'm a pretty cool guy. A real gentleman, part-time bad boy , and someone who is looking for the real deal. Not just window dressing.
I also have bipolar disorder and would really appreciate some thoughts on what this means to you in terms of a serious relationship. I'm not going to go into details here... my profile pretty much sums it up. A quick read there and comments here would be deeply appreciated.

We all have our issues and our flaws, I am sure there are others who are nonjudgemental as I "try" to be...I'd only be concerned if it affected my daily life Or my son. Good Luck in your search.

All I know is that my sister has this title. She now feels she can be a b*tch anytime she wants because she is " bipolar" I have heard this same thing from others with this affliction. Personally, I think " bipolar" is just a name the doctors tag ya with when they do not know what is really wrong.

peaches.. because it is the words spoken by the ones who have bipolar. Even she, my sister, is not sure that this is what she has. She also feels that the doctors simply gave her this tag because they do not know what is causing her problems. The others that I have talked to feel the same way! Soooooooo... this is not all my opinion.. but those from the plight of bipolar.. and the diabetic thing has no bearing here. My sister would love to find out what is truly wrong with her so she can get off the drugs that makes her a zombie

Bipolar in my opinion is most definately real. My ex had it. Exteme highs and extreme lows, but never in between like others. And the disorder shows very early on in life. I know because my 4 year old has it. Come spend a day in my home, and I will make you a believer. He has been in therapy for about 6 months now. I have decided not to put him on medicine at his age. But I know I will have to eventually. His father and grandmother have it. It is a disturbing disorder, and I feel it can be very hard on the person with it and on their family. I wish you the best, I already have my hands full, I don't believe that I could date anyone with the disorder again. But when you meet that special person, they will love you for who you are, and will be there with you to help you through it.

BiPolar Disorder is a Chemical Imbalance in your brain...
It doesnt mean youre crazy it just makes you feel that way...
It can be controlled....

I agree with most of the others. With a wealth of information out there, and with you being on proper meds...it could still possibly create problems from time to time. BUT
the right person will notice, know how to react, and not add to the problem with
their own outbursts. Remaining calm is their best bet. Having regular discussions
on an regular basis, and maybe a "buzz word" that you both agree upon, could help
as well. As long as you stay conscious of the situation, you may be able to to handle things more successfully. Just my two cents!

thanks for all your responses. my question has been answered.
i have to say that trublu5ft2' comments in particular were insightful. obviously her depth and breadth of medical knowledge make her an authority on the subject. glad to know that ignorance and bias are dead.
to mom1st. thanks and i wish you the best with your son. medical research on this disorder has made leaps and bounds in understanding over the past decade. hopefully your son will benefit tremendously from that. take care.
have a nice day y'all.

Well I have major depression recurrent with dysthymic disorder. We are not our diagnosis. We have real chemical imbalances that make us this way. And no it is not a license to act hateful (like a b*tch, ass hole etc.) These things can be controled however we will still have bad days. Keep your chin up look at the good.

perth.. slack up dude. I didn't say I thought anyone was crazy. I simply stated that my sister has it and SHE believes that the docs gave her that title because they don't honestly know what is wrong with her.
