Ok, just so ya'll know, the CDC is investigating 2 possible cases of Swine Flu in South Dakota. Saw this on Tv ( KSFY ) and Yahoo news.

Title: Officials Provide Updates on Swine Flu Activity
The Sioux Falls Health Department, working with the South Dakota Department of Health (SDDOH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and community health providers, is watching for signs of Swine Flu in South Dakota. No confirmed cases have been reported in Minnehaha County.
“The Sioux Falls Health Department and SDDOH are paying close attention to Swine Flu,” said Judy Buseman, Sioux Falls Public Health Director. “We have enhanced our monitoring of this serious illness. Health officials are working with health care providers across the state to identify any potential cases of Swine Flu.”
Both the CDC and World Health Organization (WHO) believe the Swine Flu is spreading by close contact with infected people or swine. Individuals who have cared for, lived with, or had direct contact with infected persons are at risk of getting the Swine Flu. Those who have recently traveled or had close contact with travelers to Mexico may also be at risk.
SDDOH has notified health officials across the state to be on alert for individuals with flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, sore throat, and muscle aches. Symptoms of Swine Flu are similar to those of seasonal influenza.
Based on CDC guidelines, the Sioux Falls Health Department urges everyone to take the following precautions against Swine Flu—these are the same precautions used for seasonal influenza:
* Cover your nose and mouth with tissue when you cough and sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
* Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
* Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs spread this way.
* Try to avoid close contact with sick people. Stay at least three feet away from people who are sick.
* If you display flu-like symptoms, the CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them. Seek medical attention if symptoms become more severe.
* Get emergency medical care right away if the sick person:
o Has difficulty breathing or chest pain;
o Has purple or discolored lips;
o Is vomiting and unable to keep liquids down;
o Has signs of dehydration such as dizziness when standing, absence of urination; or in infants, a lack of tears when they cry;
o Has seizures (for example, uncontrolled convulsions);
o Is less responsive than normal or becomes confused.
The City of Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, and community health care organizations, as part of their emergency management response plans, have developed an Infectious Disease Response Plan. Portions of this plan are regularly exercised and updated during seasonal outbreaks of influenza. The Sioux Falls Health Department will provide regular updates as information becomes available.

Here in GA, I heard tell that the CDC was at hospital in the county neighboring mine to investigate two possible cases. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, but I sincerely doubt that those cases turned up positive. Probably just another run of the mill virus that had some resemblances to the swing flu, so they had to check it out.
