if you are really down, you could do what i did the first Christmas i was alone. i went up town and pick 4 people out of line for the soup kitchen and took them out for dinner, and brought them back afterwords, and i will tell you i got more out of that than they did. no matter how hard it gets there are a lot of homeless that have it a lot worse.

without reading any other posts i am going to reply to this....
i just recently became separated, this was my first Thanksgiving without having someone else and it went badly...my family did not get together for the first time in my life time and i didn't have anyone to talk to or anything. this will be my first Christmas "alone" in 16 years, maybe someone will come into my life between now and then maybe not...doesn't really matter to me at this point (it would be nice but it will happen in its own time, i do have someone that i would love to be there but that is a different thread/post). all i want is to survive the holidays and see my friends and family be happy and content, personally that is what i want from the holidays and if that happens i will be okay.
but simply put...yes it will be a struggle for me....

hi i am a single mother of 2 i have been single for 5 yrs and the holidays is the most depressing time of the year because thats the time you wish you had someone to share it with the mosti actully hate being single around the holidays i see all these people out here buying gifts for there mate and i realize i dont have one to buy for or to just spend those special days with some holidays like christmas i just want to sit and cry but i dont because i have to think about the kids and i dont want them to see me that way so i just hold back and try to think of it as another normal day

After spending holidays alone for almost 12 years, I find it is something that one never gets accustomed to doing. Usually, I try to work on holidays; if not my time is spent with my pet.

I also agree that the holidays are much harder,would give anything for love so tired of the bachelor life.
