I never trusted anyone who doesnt like animals, somethings missing from their heart.
I've lost many loved babies (4 legged Ones) through the years, and have their ashes still here with me. They each gave their all to me in so many ways, and will forever remain in my heart.
Can't even imagine my life without dog.
So any guy I hook up with MUST be an animal lover.

and i dont trust people my dog dont like,they seem to sense things about certain people.had a couple experiences where my dog didnt like someone and then later found out they were scammers.

 Well I have had dogs all my life. When there young they fly like the wind. little gerrres and barks, with life so bright in there little eyes. Sadly one day their a bit slower the eyes maybe a bit dimmer. You watch them as your own kids or a loved one who knows your heart, knows when you cry and comes to you for a hug. The world would truly suck more without my long special friends. To my friends that I have lost, I will sure see you again. OH a happy times it will be, just me and all of you together once again. Thanks for reading ,, Feel much better.

JUST MY DOG
He is my other eyes that can see above
the clouds; my other ears that hear above
the winds. He is the part of me that can
reach out into the sea.
He has told me a thousand times over that
I am his reason for being: by the way he
rests against my leg; by the way he thumps
his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he
shows his hurt when I leave without taking him.
(I think it makes him sick with worry when he
is not along to care for me.)
When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.
When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile.
When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.
When I am a fool, he ignores it.
When I succeed, he brags.
Without him, I am only another man. With him,
I am all-powerful.
He is loyalty itself.
He has taught me the meaning of devotion.
With him, I know a secret comfort and a
private peace. He has brought me understanding
where before I was ignorant.
His head on my knee can heal my human hurts.
His presence by my side is protection against
my fears of dark and unknown things.
He has promised to wait for me...
henever...wherever--in case I need him.
And I expect I will--as I always have.
He is just my dog.

i have 4 of my own would be lost with out them. when i'm in a sad mood my airdale lab mix comes and puts is head on me. it's real comforting. they are spoiled rotten.

Hey lost, heard that poem but it was about a horse.
I agree on dogs! I always end up with the ones that need rehabilitation, the one's someone messed up. My latest is a weimaraner that was heading to his doom for being a biter. But guess what? They end up the best!! My best friend when I was 8 was a dog that had the mange and when we moved my mom made me leave him. I will never forget watching him from the back seat trying to keep up with the car running as hard as he could as we left him there. I cried for days on end and I never forgave her for that. Wayyy to much trauma to put a kid through!!

Coppermare....that is a HORRIBLE thing not only for you to endure but for the poor dog who was left behind to God only knows what kind of life or death. I don't blame you for never forgiving your Mother. She was heartless and cruel to do that....besides mange is curable! I know first-hand because I rescued a black Lab mix who had it. It wasn't a chap fix but she ended up with beautiful shiny black coat and lived for 17 long, happy years!!
Lost...your post and others here brought tears to my eyes thinking about MY two buddies who went to Rainbow Bridge. One lived for 17 years and the other 10!
It's nice to read posts about people like me who are crazy about their dogs and treat them like members of the family. The term "Just a dog" should NEVER be used by ANYONE!

great forum....i have 3 rescues of my own...i had to stop fostering because i would've ended up with 100 i know!
but, yes. i agree with you all. i do feel for folks who've never experienced the unconditional love of a dawg (a texas pronunciation).
i love my babies!
dang, i was gonna add pics of the furrballs but can't figure out how to insert them...oh well.

wow could never have left a dog, let alone one with mange. Poor baby needed help. I'm sorry that happened.
Lost excellent post, those tears were right there...... Just a dog or cat, has always been my best friend in this life. I have 5 dogs, each with its own distinct personality. Gosh I remember the dogs we had growing up, my first dog that was all mine, and all those since. I've always said when I get to heaven I will be stampeded by the zoo I've had in this lifetime. lol They will be as glad to see me as I them...I love all my babies past and present. I agree with you, if my dog doesn't like someone I'm very leary of them. Usually I've not been disappointed because the dog was right...person wasn't worth knowing. My 'kids' have been my best friend when no one else was there...love my furbabies.

I agree they are not just a dog!
Mine is with me all the time. Infact I find the time to take him out just for him. This weekend we went to the lake and he went swimming. I believe he had a great time. My dog is always there for me not matter what I am doing. So I try and be there for him. He has special needs too.
