No, it's never enough.

One of the things that women (especially, but some men (like me on occasion) too) need to learn is to Stop Being A Martyr. Leave your job after the 40th hour, and somehow (don't ask me) figure a way to take care of your kids without letting them drain you.

I got to a point where I was on the critical path of many activities at one of my jobs. At some point I figured out that since my plate was never empty there was no real reason to rush to get everything done.

One of the strategies retirement planners advise is to Pay Yourself First. Thus, some part of your paycheck always goes into savings. The same strategy can be used with your Time.

Well in Theory anyway. The difference between Theory and Pratice is less in Theory than it is in Practice.

Are there any other single women that take their kids to the same daycare (if your kids are of that age)..maybe you can do a share..every Saturday the kids play at someone elses house and gives ever mom a day off.

SMR--I used to go in the bathroom and lock the door and tell the kids I using the bathroom, as I secretly read the newspaper. It worked for me. Jack Daniels seems to work better than Xanax too!

Thanks everyone...
Oh, and in response to Bl8ant, Im a nurse, I work with people who have had strokes, massive brain injuries, amputations, and I help them heal, become functional again and return to life and society as functional human beings...I deal with every age from 12 to late 80's. So, yeah, I thank GOD every day that I have my health, my children are strong and healthy, (although sometimes its hard to deal with a 10 year old with autism, I take each day as it comes, and I cheer when he deals with challenges other people will NEVER understand). Im not talking about what I dont have here. I see devastating injuries and what it does to patients and their families on a daily basis. Im talking about the challenges of being a single mom without backup, no respite, no chance to have a few minutes to yourself. My children keep me going. They are also a challenge every day, and I appreciate every minute with them. Just FYI.
THANKS everyone for the support....
I love the people on DH!!!
Merry Christmas to all, (without the 'freaking'...LOL)

good for you for going to school nicrkitty, Its a real b*tch, but its worth it in the end! I still struggle with $$ issues but I cant imagine what I would be going through if I hadnt graduated from nursing school. Keep it up!
And, yeah, that ride to work, phew, sometimes its the only peace and quiet I get all day. Its pretty bad when having 9 patients is a break from the chaos of home!
My boys make it all worthwhile...and make life crazy, its just one of those things where you have the occasional Calgon moment!
And, the boys bathroom is the one with the tub, so before I even THINK about using that, I have to clean, fumigate, ect.....LMAO!
One day at a time...The serenity prayer....
and Pallybaby my love, I threw away the worms! Marinara...ewwwwww!
Hee hee...

i can relate also.it's easy to get wrapped up in doing what we have to do and taking care of everyone and everything elas first.guess sometimes we have to be content with having what we need and not what we want.

gazy-- good advice.we should all treat ourselves first ... at least once in a while.

I'm right there with all of you . . . I work 40 hours, go to school from 5-10 twice a week, and I have 3 kids, the youngest is 10 and i have a grandson due in January . . . when I look at it all together like that, it makes me crazy . . . so I don't! I just do the next thing right in front of me, and although I'm not in a relationship right now, I still take time for me . . . do something fun every week that my kids would absolutely hate! It makes me a better mom and better able to handle all of the pressures that life serves up on a daily basis. Something simple, like dinner with friends once a week or a walk in the park with the dogs, at least, that's what I do, and it's working!

Good luck, it does get better - remember to BREATHE!!!
