Thanks for the attempt. Maybe more people will have time for others when it is colder out?

Hey all!

Can I join ya'll again?

I see a few new faces in here. The room still doesn't move very fast, but seems there are more posting in here than a few months ago.

I used to be kathy5311, deleted for a month or so and then came back. Haven't been back in here until today though.

I'm originally from South Dakota - grew up on a ranch between Presho and Winner. I haven't been back home in a LONG time. I miss South Dakota, but don't know if I could handle the harsh winters anymore... been in Georgia for 15 years and I'm gotten kinda spoiled by their 3 days of winter!

Welcome back Kathy.. I enjoyed reading your post before! Im here this morning because we got our first snow last night and I can't/won't go out and clear off my garden this morning before work. Boy, I'd love just 3 days of winter.. but kids are just 40 min. away, and mom and sisters are 20 min. away. I wouldnt mind winter as much if I didnt have to scoop it to Sioux Falls rules! 4 wheeling on the acreage or frozen lake was fun back when I had someone to do it with. Amen?? Anyway.. lets get this chat off the ground! I'll help if I can.

Thanks for the warm welcome back.

Rich: I heard you all had snow today... don't think I could move back... brrrr, it's COLD there! I'm still running my AC from time to time.

Bonnie: Thanks for the compliment. If it makes you feel any better, those three days of Winter we have down here are really miserable days! LOL

Hey Rat! Good to see you back on here too. You're right... it's hard to stay away. What is it about this place??? What is the pull???

Edit to ask: What are the Sioux Falls rules to scooping snow??? There are rules for scooping snow??

Yeah.. there are rules! Sidewalks supposed(my neighor dont!) to be scooped within 48?? hours or so. And that wouldn't be so bad.. I do have a snowblower but I live on an emergency snow route and they keep plowing my driveway and mailbox full of snow and my snowblower dont like that part so I do it by hand mostly. I keep getting nice notes in the mailbox that its not good enough! They need to be able to drive right up and open the door like summertime.. and 95% the time I dont get anything but junk mail anyway. OH Bother! What shall I do?

Hmmmm... seems so funny that there would be rules to scooping snow, but I guess it does make sense. I grew up on a ranch and later went to college where I lived in town in Chadron, Nebraska. We just scooped the area that we needed to be able to get out of our homes, to the barn and out of the driveway. Other than that, we didn't worry about it. I don't remember HAVING to have our sidewalks scooped... but that was quite a few years ago too; things may have changed.

Rich: I'm glad to be back too.

Oh, I'd come back for visits if I could. Money is the issue. That and time. Seems everything revolves around money and time. I do stay in constant contact w/ my family. I'm really "close" to them even though I never get to see them. What I hate the MOST about never getting home is not getting to see and know my nieces and nephews. I have had dreams where they've told me that I'm their favorite aunt! LOL I just KNOW I'd be the coolest aunt, if they knew me! (And I've got the cutest nieces and nephews... from their pictures anyway....)
