In the Army '74 to '77 I was 12B, Combat Engineer (Drove a dump truck and blew things up with C-4. In the Air Force I was a Jet Engine Mechanic (I forget the alphanumeric designation for that one). I took the early retirement in '94 while SW was taking a "gnaw the meat off the bones" approach to the military.

I began as a 14S...Avenger Crewmember, um, I was the guy who everybody seen laying on the top of the HMMWV watching the sky waiting on a plane to shoot down that would never come. SO, after somebody finally realized that we would not shoot down a plane in the current wars...they let me changeover to a 31B...Military Police...NOW, I am both proud, and saddened to say that at 25-years old, I am retired from the United States Army...although medically...I miss it though, and would give up the money today to go back in!

91590 Medic/Hospital Supply...NCIOC non-medical supplies (everything needed to run hospital, from ink pens to silverware) also NCOIC of linen control..all uniforms and anything cloth came through me...Man I had it great..Cooks always wanted rags...The baker would come down in the mornings and he might have a fresh out of the oven cherry or apple pie with him, heck yes he got the rags and then some more..
The base motorpool needed rags too..What I came away with I can't say..But I sure had it good..Volunteered for 'Nam, they thought I was crazy so they kept me stateside..Musta thought i'd go over there and start a war or something..wished I'd have stayed in..Not much different than civilian life..

Nonsense Willi, you don't have to serve in-country to be a vet. you just have to serve during wartime. If I'm not mistaken there are two wars going down over the past 7-8 years. Thx for your service.
