Anyone who likes small lazy rivers, just floating in a kayak, canoe, etc.?

I put my kayak on the back of my truck and go on local rivers with a group. I think being on the water with only other rowers is the most relaxing place in the world. No motors, no fumes, just silence except for the swish of oars.

I don't do whitewater. I took lessons and decided it's not for me, at least not right now. I'm sure there are others of you who do rivers rated 5. I almost envy the daredevils out there. I'd like to hear from you also.

LOL Are there gators in VT? I thought they were only in the deep South where I live. Or are you traveling in our neck of the woods?

Seriously, it must be wonderful traveling with your kayak. What are your plans? What type boat do you have?

Hope to see you on the water.

I envey those of you who kayak I do white water in my 9' pontoon boat. I usually go down the Mckenzie River with a group of friends several times a week. I enjoy both the white water and then on days when we feel like just taking it easy we do the slower part of the river. Nothing better except in winter when I go snowmobiling.

Hi to you 4evr....I went out today, local lake, it's so amazing how kayaking makes me feel. I'm an independant lady, and it's a great sport for me to do by myself....I'm looking into getting a flatwater kayak, and a C-tug, so I can manage it on my own, the c-tug trailor, folds up, and fits inside the kayak!!
Happy trails to you.....take care, be safe...

I'm in NW Ohio near Lake Erie, with a good Northeaster we get some pretty good waves.it may take a try or two to get outpast the surf but it's a lot of fun bouncing around.I have a 9.5 footer, and I was almost completely vertical once. When small craft warnings are out,I'm headed for the beach.

Sounds exciting Saveddave, I'm not sure if I'll ever do the ocean adventure. I am however, looking forward to going to Colorado, there are some caves you can go through there. I prefer the lakes, for now anyway!

Very cool! They have mast for kayaks as well..that would be great for my area, due to the high winds we have here in the High Desert.

You would love it.

Once in Florida, I jumped/flew from the back of one wave, to the back of the next one, for about a mile.

It was fast!

It's fun.

You put a 10ft. square sail, on an empty 17ft. aluminum canoe.

And sail in a storm, with the wind at your back.

I have been canoeing/kayaking for the past three years. I have to say that its the best thing that I got into. About a month and a half I finally went and bought my own kayak and when I am not out on the beach, I am at the river or the intercoastal kayaking and just enjoying the outdoors. Being in Florida I run into gators often but they really don't bother you at all. Just leave them alone and they will leave you alone.

Happy YAKING !

Oh yeah...paddling. Nothing better....well, maybe equal. All good activities in the water are equal.

I have a custom made kayak. 38 lbs fiberglass which is really cool. I sit my granddaughter up at the helm and the two of us float away for a day.
I have a website if any of you in Florida want to take a look.

I love to load the kayaks on the truck and get on the river. yesterday my son and I paddled from Eva Beach to Fossel Point it was a hot sunny day and one of the most enjoyable ones after what seemed like over a month that it rained almost every day. I love kayaking on the Tennessee River
