The best way I have found is a Framing Hammer.
Works every time.

Don't do it alone. Take it to a Best Buy or something.

It depends on the manufacturer and model of laptop, along with what it is you're trying to get to: RAM sticks, hard drive, MBO, etc. I would suggest you re-post this thread in the "Computers and Tech Nerds" group forum where there are technically oriented people willing to help out.

OK- information that we can use.
If you mean a CD is stuck in the drawer then:
Look on the face of the CD/DVD, there should be a small hole just under the drawer. Straighten a large paper clip. Turn power OFF on the laptop. Push the clip into the hole slowly. This is the 'emergency' drawer release, and the drawer should open, and you'll be able to retrieve the CD/DVD.
If you mean that the CD/DVD drive will not come out of the laptop:
Gently push the drive into the laptop, then try the release again. Sometimes it will stick and pushing in slightly will help release it. If this doesn't work, then your best alternative is to have a pro open it. Its NOT really a do it yourself kind of job, especially with presarios as they require a couple of special tools to release hidden latches.
Good luck

What model Presario (i.e. M2100, CQ40, V6000, etc.)? As someone mentioned already, if the bay door just won't open, straighten out a paper clip and poke it into the release hole with the power off.

They're easy for me Karl, but I know nothing about your craft - cameras and photography, which is why I go to you with my photography questions.

TA DA!!! I got it!
I tried the paper clip and that didn't work.
Finally unplugged everything - battery included!
Started taking out screws from the perimeter and loosened the casing.
Got the drawer open enough to retrieve a stuck cd!
I am woman hear me roar!

Hey country blonde---was the stuck CD the only problem? Did you know about the tiny pinhole on the CD Rom outer tray that if a disk is stuck you can insert a pin or a paper clip end and the CD bay pops out. My guess is that you already knew about this being the mechanical girl. Or you could have asked your monkey for advice....(: Or if all else fails there is the rapid bullet insertion technique.
