i haven't read JR ward yet, i mean too. I really love the Laurell k Hamilton series. She has two series "anita blake- vampire hunter" and the "merry gentry" series. The Anita Blake series is good. They start out more action and story based and slowly twist into sex and story. The good thing is that the story line is still there. Vampires are my favorite topic to read about. The Merry Gentry series is fairy and sex based, but just as enjoyable to read

Great...lots of authors will be there and the theme nights are great. Just check with romantic times magazine site to keep updated for registration. It's supposed to be at the Westin Bonnaventure. Dont know where that is in LA but I know you will probably find it. Enjoy.

I am so happy to see a thread about vampire books that does not include stupid sparkly vampires.

I shall look for J. R. Ward, sounds interesting.

Right now I'm on a Charlaine Harris kick, because she's so funny in a weird dark way. I love most of her characters. Especially "Bubba"

Patricia Briggs is another of my favorite paranormal authors, but she's mostly werewolves. She does get some vampires and fae involved in the later books in her "Mercy Thompson" series.

JR Ward and Charlaine Harris are two of my favorites.

Two more that I like and didn't see mentioned are PC Cast and Richelle Mead. Cast has a House of Night series going and Mead had a Vampire Acadamy series going.

In the meantime, I started reading Lynsay Sands the Argeneau series, only read one, picked up a couple more...I'll let ya know.

I am a fan of the Vampire genre but not the metrosexual type of vampires portrayed as of late.

A vampire is a murderous monster that feeds on the living and regards them as cattle....

Not the twilight type of vampires but the 30days of night vampires are what interest me.

the movies haven't measured up to the book. but the novella I should say is really scary, you can read it in a couple of hours. From 1983-95 it was out of print but I read it in 95: and have met the author: I am Legend By richard Matheson Sr.

OMG! I can't believe Kresley Cole was not mentioned once in this entire thread!! Check out her Immortals After Dark series. It's what I like to call inter-species dating, lols. The first book in the series A Hunger Like No Other is freaking epic! It's about a Werewolf king and his half vampire, half Valkyrie bride. The whole series has me hooked. I'm a faithful reader of Laurell K. Hamilton. But those other authors you all named, I've read one or two books out of the series and they don't capture me like Kresley's stories can.

CHECK IT OUT! So hot, the pages will burn your fingers and you'll have a sleepless night, guaranteed!!!

I notice mostly women this post, but this is not the pretty, romantic vampire's

this is a throwback to when vamps were true evil and tring to take over the world

Seriously? Twilight?
That is not anything close to a real vampire book.
Does anyone on this thread even know what a good book is?
Brian Lumley's Necroscope series kills all the books mentioned on this thread.
Twilight vampires are little girls. You can't even compare them to this series.
