Agree with Cottage, on first meeting let's just do coffee - we both pay for our own and each can walk away.
Cheap date - invited to go out to a classy restaurant. Wonderful meal, excellent service, waiters wore tux's so you know the type of place it was. My menu didn't have any prices on it, his did. So I ordered what he did. When the maitre'd brought the bill, he didn't have his wallet. I paid. What made it cheap was I had to ask him three weeks later, if he intended to pay me back. He never did. I dropped him after that, although my sister said I should have played the same trick on him and then dropped him. I didn't have the nerve!

This date was more strange than cheap. I was 18 and this guy who was also 18 asked me out. When he came to pick me up, this older woman was sitting in the driver seat. Can you imagine? I sat in the front seat and he sit in the back. I swear i put my deoderant on.  We went to the show and she sat behind us and then all three of us went to Mcd's to eat.
