One of my very best friends is a guy. We have both been through a lot in the last year and we've always been there for each other. So, today I woke up with a broken furnace and called to see if he could look at it. He came over and it was something he couldn't fix so he called the heating guy for me because I was at work. Of course I payed for it all and was appreciative on the phone. When I came home he had several notes around the house basically saying that he's in love with me. I feel sick. I love him like a brother and have always been very up-front about that. I hate this! I do not want to hurt him but it's just not there for me at all. What the hell am I supposed to do about this? Do I back off and cut down contact. Do I just say "stop it already?" Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If he is your friend you shouldnt cut off comunacations with him at all . If you do then you will only be hurting yourself and him as well. Talk to him let himknow whats up and if he is your friend than he should understand. Besides what is the point of haveing a friend if you cant be neer them or honest about things?

Hey its very possible to only be friends. I have a very similar situation and since I am best friends with him I told him that i didnt have feelings like that for him. Were still best friends yeh it hurt him cause my other friends keep telling me how he feels, but he knows how i feel and were still good friends. Dont back away or be rude about it just talk to him. Communication is the best way.

Yes its possible...My best friend is a guy...We dated for 2 yrs and due to where we both were at that time in life decided we were better off friends...That was 6 yrs ago...I'm still involved in his daughters life and any females he dates has to be approved by his daughter and myself...
Let him know how you feel...Did ya'll ever talk about it before hand? I think if boundaries are made clear its much easier...

honesty is the best policy! u need to have a sitdown with him, to discuss how both of u feel. prolonging it, just allows him to continue to think there's a possibility with u. the truth can be extremely painful at times, but it sure as hell beats the alternative. good luck.

You definitely need to talk and communicate your true feelings with him. He may have had those feelings for you for some time, I am guessing he has. I respect the man for expressing how he feels. Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say. If he is unable to cope with nothing more than a "friendship" he should express that to you as well. Open the line of communication while it's still fresh! Wish you nothing but the best!
