Hi Mel:

I am so sorry for you..... As I told the other woman above I would never do fusion, only disc replacement. I know many years ago that was not an option but it is much more preferred now-a-days. Fusion only will destroy the discs above and below the fused on by putting extra strain on them.... you body was not meant to work that way. With the synthetic disc, they move just like a normal disc and do not wear out. I can only imagine the pain you must have....

I too debated about having one more surgery. In my injury they only replaced two damaged disc and left the third one still in my back because the insurance carrier did not want to pay for it; totally stupid !!!

My surgery was hundreds of thousands of dollars (including the week stay in the hospital). To replace the 3rd bad disc was another $ 15K. Now, if they need to go back in and replace it, it will cost another $ 200K...... makes no F**** sense. It almost seemed like a scam. The insurance company and the docs know in time my 3rd disc (which is ruptured anyway) is shot and it is a matter of time before the bones are (again) grinding together and crushing my nerve. I continue to have issues off and on with the nerve in the area of the 3rd bad disc.... causes leg pains and back pains. I told them (after I found out when i woke up), that I would have been willing to pay $15K for the extra synthetic disc while I was already cut open, versus me having to endure another surgery and the pain of it all.

Anyway, now that I am walking again..... even with pain still, I am not sure if I want to go have another surgery to replace that one last bad disc. So I know what you mean about not wanting to be cut open again.

NH, I told my surgeon if I lose the use of my legs again then I would have the 4th surgery. He understands he has been with me through this whole process and I really feel he understands where Im coming from. He knows I have kids and just cant run to the hospital every 1 1/2 yrs for new surgery. I have lost my legs twice so far and both times its been from pinched areas that he has been able to fix so hopefully he would be able to do it again. Anyway good luck to you. Yell if you every need to vent, I know what your going through. Just may take me a few days to reply, the other day I really hurt spent too much time on and felt it the rest of the day. LOL!! Computer withdraw!!!!

Captainjul, Hon trust and believe I know exactly where you are coming from when you were talking about that man stopped talking to you when you told him about your disability. I have been there before!! Either they ignore me in public when Im walking with my braces and cane, or on here before I put it on profile that I was disabled. now i just say it first off and if its a problem then its just on them. Dont waist my time, Just remember that person is shallow and KARMA is a bit**!!!! Someone will treat them like they treated us, I truely believe that!! what comes around goes around!!!!

Theres got to be someone out there for us, we just have to be patient (hopefully!!)

Juls just for moral support here...

I can only speak for myself, but I would hate to think that my disability is going to keep me alone... because it isn't going away, and I don't want to be alone for the rest of my life. So, I have to hope, and work at not being alone. I think you and I are both doing that, but I am hoping that anyone else who reads this will understand that we get depressed sometimes about being alone, wonder why sometimes, and the easy answer when we get down and depressed is often... people are discriminating against us... and some are. But when we are being more thoughtful, we know not everyone is discriminating against us... We have hope, you and I, and everyone else here... we do... but sometimes it seems like we don't I know.

thank you for your input , i dont want to live alone this is not the issue with me, ive been single for a very long time and its something ive grown used to, i know no one wants to be alone including me, but im not going to let it rule my life any longer, as i once did, its harder to go on thinking why im not being loved by some one ,as it is thinking what have i done not to deserve anyone , im a good person as ive been talk so why i cant answer that , time will tell, and if not i have led a very adventures life in my younger days, wouldnt give those memoreis up for nothing,

I want to thank whomever started this thread. I feel a sence of relief since I posted my disability. I never had thought I'd just put it out there like this. I don't usually have a problem telling people about it. Although when it comes to dating I clam up. It saddens me when I meet someone and everything is great until...I tell "him" about my didability. Than "he" just kinda disapers or decides "he" dosent want a relationship or what have you. Im on disability, but want to work so bad. It's hard finding a job that will keep me. I have lost many jobs due to all the surgeries I have had. Because of the time I need off and the restrictions that I have or get after surgery. I just wish more people could look past the disability and treat me the same as anyone else.

83Amy, Welcome I am very proud of you,(and everyone else for that matter), for having come here and telling others of your disability/s. I'm pretty up-front with my stuff too and sometimes I'm not so sure if that's a good thing, but I am what I am, ya know.. I can completely see where you are coming from with people finding out your on disability and all. I'm right there with ya. I just look at it like, if I'm judged by someone after having learned my disabilitys, then I don't want them anyway... I'm leavin it up to God this time around because if it's coming from Him, it's gonna be good.

Hey Juls... I got lucky... For many years I was diagnosed with arthritis. I went through what it sounds like you did. Then my doctors were changed, and my new doctor at the time, just happened to be a bone specialist, and he told me... I didn't have arthritis after all, but instead inflammation of the joints. He suggested it was caused by triggers in my diet. After all I had been through, I could not believe what I was experiencing was caused by things in my diet... I was in utter disbelief, but followed his suggestions for avoiding certain types of foods, and amazingly my attacks virtually went away. WOW, so I have an attack once in awhile, probably something I ate that had something in it to trigger it, but life changed for me a lot. I use an anti-inflammatory drug at the onset of an attack to nip it in the bud... that's it. It made me wonder if my migraine headaches were related to the joint inflammation or not, because they too are triggered by the same types of dietary triggers, and the same medication is effective in my case on them. Just thought I would share... don't know if anyone else has been misdiagnosed or not...

im glad you found a result for yours and its not arithrties ,as for me i know for sure it is, the only thing that will help me is joint replacements, it runs in my family on both sides, kind of got slamed on it, if you know what i mean, so its going to be a long journey for me to get it stared and all that needs to be done,

Amy I undestand what you mean. I walk with a small limp I don't even notice it but other people can. I was a Corrections Officer for 6 years and passed the New Mexico Corrections Academy so it doesn't bother me, but I almost didn't get to go to the academy. The wardens at the prison wasn't going to let me go but a Captain that worked there got me in and I passed. It was just because of my disability I wasn't going to get to try.

I have degenerative bone disease along with arthritis.

No cartilage in right knee (bone rubbing against bone) and
need knee replacement. Severe lower leg pain in both legs
since June and don’t know what this is.

I also have stomach spasms and diverticulitis.

I have to work even though it’s still temp. I’ve been looking for a
full time job since 2007 and have no insurance. Ya, seems like I’m falling
apart but I thank God and keep pushing ahead each day the best I can.

Thank you for this thread and for everyone sharing.
I just hold everything inside, don’t bother anyone and mostly
been lurking lately.
