Hello all,

I'm a 21-year-old guy who hasn't dated anyone ever before I joined the site earlier this year (February 2010?). I never even had a girlfriend before, let alone a first kiss. I'm a computer nerd, a "nice guy", who everyone says finishes last. It seemed like I was hopeless with romance and it got me very depressed. I've only met two girls off of any dating websites, one from DateHookup and another from Plenty Of Fish. DateHookup was the first online dating site I signed up for, because someone at work was on it and decided to start online dating with me (a side-by-side sort of thing, like being on the site, coming in the next day, gossiping about it over lunch). I found a few other sites like Plenty Of Fish and OKcupid which are also free.

The girl I met on Plenty Of Fish wanted to be just friends and nothing more than that. I was fine with it. I actually met her in person first, although I started talking to the other girl on DateHookup awhile before then. We see each other a little bit every now and then to hang out and do things. Talk a little.

What happened is that the girl I met on DateHookup was single, was in a relationship a little while after that, and broke up with him just recently. Even when she had a boyfriend, I remained her friend. I added her on Facebook as friends. We hadn't talked for a few months until after reading about her breakup with her boyfriend, I sent her a message saying that if she ever wanted anyone to talk to, I'm a shoulder to lean on. Ever since I sent that message, we've been talking non-stop ever since, and things even led up as to her becoming my girlfriend.

I sent her the message first on DateHookup. When I first started to talk to her on DateHookup, I found that she had similar interests as me (mainly computers, she's going to college for it) and that we always would have something to talk about. Even to this day. It's quite interesting to actually talk to a girl about geeky things with computers and that she can actually understand what I'm talking about, since she's going to college for it.

My first kiss was with her, made out with her a couple of times. Cuddled, snuggled, went on MANY dates, and now she's my (first) girlfriend. I know it's pretty lame that I'm 21 and I finally get my first girlfriend, but hey, it's better late than never. Things are looking pretty promising and I can't wait to see what may happen coming up. She sends me "good morning" text messages putting me in a good mood on my way to work (I get them as soon as I get up in the morning, she sends them the night before after I've fallen asleep). She has a forgiving quality I really like in her. A lot of positive things to say about her.

I've always had an interest in girls. One reason why I never really dated in high school is because I would see all the time around me about how people hook up and break up VERY QUICKLY and didn't seem like it was worth my time since that's what I thought it was about. Short-term stuff. I wanted something that would last, which is why (at the time) decided to wait. My dad would always tell me that "she'll come up when I least expect it, you'll just have to wait until she does". I waited, and waited, and waited...and nothing happened. So I decided to give online dating a try, and since I did, I met a friend (and many of her friends), and now have a girlfriend and met one of her friends too.

I'm writing this as I'm about to delete my DateHookup account (as I've deleted my other online dating site accounts too now that I found a relationship) but wanted to write about how positive this experience has been these past few months.

Thanks DateHookup for everything!

Edit:
Sorry for the LONG message! Looking at other posts I realize I wrote FAR MORE than what other people would write.
