that's a bit drastic. not all of them eat cats or dogs. I saw some interesting food there, but never once did I see a cat or dog for food. And I was in a rural area of China, a part where you'd imagine seeing something like that. Even the little villages I went to didn't have any, and I arrived unannounced. I do understand how you feel. I'm a pescatarian (vegetarian + seafood). I don't like cruelty to animals, and just b/c we have to eat- I don't think that's much of an excuse. They also have a pollution problem, much like the UK and USA during the industrial revolution. But it's not everywhere. i guess what I'm saying is I would much rather have people grow and evolve rather than wipe them out. china is a diverse society that will take time to change.
I am a global animal activist and I have the photos from our Chinese activists of how horribly cruel the people are over there are to domesticated animals and even protected wildlife. You must have been in areas where they (have at last) kept it under cover. We are currently looking for helpers in the areas that do not have advocates. China is one of the worst offenders of animal cruelty and the inhumane methods of slaughtering animals. The Chinese people on a whole are very respectable and nice, however, our aim is to teach them other ways of sustaining protein without eating domesticated pets and endangered species. And also supply the tools to humanely slaughter their animals. The Australian TV network released a documentary about the dogs and cats being eaten by the peasant communities in China, I will get the correct name of the documentary so you can google it. In fact I think it is on youtube called "The Dogs of China" or something similar. We are trying to ban this cruelty by petitioning the Chinese Government. I applaud you for your choice of food and healthy living, I am an Aquatarian (I made up that word, BTW)---I also live on seafood.
