One of my favorites, Iris DeMent, singing backup and self-accompanied on guitar, on one of her own songs, You've Done Nothing Wrong. The lead singer is Jacqueline Abbott of the band, The Beautiful South.
DeMent is a courageously honest songwriter, emotionally intelligent, and sophisticated. The catharsis in the song, the gentle, bittersweet, realities of love lost, leading to hope, is just the honest truth; forgiving the other-and yourself-without putting blame, makes it sublime.
