I've had a guy friend for... eight or nine years now. There was a time where he was interested in more, but I've always turned it down and he's moved on. Just friendship on both ends here. A lot of my guy friends in college were always just friends, too, including one who practically lived in the dorm with my roomies and I.

I say your wrong. I have 2 truly platonic friends. Been that way for years. Either one of these women would make a great gf, but it would be like kissing my sister. not happening.
They are a great asset when it comes to getting the other point of view.

I have male friends that I truly have a platonic relationship with. A lot of them have families of their own and they absolutely love their wife and have no interest in me nor do I in them other than friendship.

ok, let me clarify a little more.. I believe a woman can have a truly platonic relationship with a man and never have a single sexual thought about him, but I do not believe a man can have the same

i call bs on that. Men can have a truly platonic relationship. The vast majority of women in my life i don't have sexual thoughts about. i just pre-assume they'll never have those thoughts about me, and i've been right so far.
despite the stereotype, men think about more than meat, drink and women. Men are capable of more, and buying into the line that they don't and not expecting more is insulting.

I am a woman and not a man so I don't know what a man is thinking so I am not gonna assume that all men think of me in a sexual way. I cannot presume that any other woman can either unless they are a man.

Yes they can some of my dearest friends are people I dated and we just didn't find the typical love connection, However many of my closest friends are ladies, we often go out to dinner, with or witout their spouses, and because we know each other it never is a problem, I'm often ask to take a friends wife to a scocial gathering, or somewhere a woman doesn't feel confortable being by themselves. I love them to death but I have a very strong view in my life, call it the code of the west or what ever, MY friends are someone who knows me well enough to be trusted, with, money, wife, or life. If you can't trust yourself or your friends. You got some major problems.

ABSOLUTELY!
Although I think it is pretty rare (percentage wise), because the more you get to know someone, even if initially NOT physically attracted to them it just naturally develops. But when it does happen its a beautiful thing!! ;0)
Good luck everyone! :0)
