I have had many platonic male friends.
I like guys.
They're cool to hang with, we think the same and we talk about topics that are far more exciting to me than child birth, menstrual cramping and how to not lose weight off my boobs.
I like to play with them. Go to races, ride dirt bikes, shoot pool.
And they make great companions and none of them stab me in the back, or are ever b*tchy, skanky or make me ashamed to be their friend.
Only one has turned sexual and that.....was just too much time sailing alone together - the chemistry and friendship had been really strong for years!!! too much time alone, sailing, adrenaline and too little clothing became combustible.
Still miss his friendship years later....he's probably the one person in my life I regret losing.

I agree women can be friends, men always have the underlying urge to get you in bed.

I have to say that most of my friends are men.........I'm sure that some of them would like to get their greedy lil paws on my ta-tas, but they also know that they'd be drawing back a bloody stump if they tried!

I'd say yes, my 2 best friends are women and one of them is an ex lover.
I think there's always at least a bit of the "sexual tension" between 2 people of opposite sex but their friendship means more to me than a night in the sack.

look men are far more trustworthy friends than women.
Sure they have some simple though patterns (occasionally) but if they couldn't overcome those then those are not the ones I would choose for friends.
It's the same as women - only different sex.
I'm very cautious of choosing women as friends and I've yet to have a single one that didn't at some point become a whacked out b*tch from hell - who goes ballistic and destroys everyone in her path....
men are far more loyal to their friends and TREAT them better.
A woman thinks only of her own needs first - then her friend's.
This is JMO.

I've found that with men there's always the inevitable pissing contest. Either at work or in a social setting.
Maybe I'm an oddball but I just don't care to participate in testosterone driven "conflict". Maybe that's why I get along better with women.

That's great sd, so I should change their tire while you wash their hair, ok, that works.

awww Sailing Babe, I'm not that kind of girl at all.
I also have few women friends,as it seems to me that this culture teaches women to be competitive and not honest. I never did get that. I'm much more behind the idea of sisterhood. I'd rather support women than tear us down. We're all beautiful in our own way and have so much to give to each other.
with that said, i have always had more men friends than women, partially because i grew up with brothers and i'm more comfortable with guys. Also because they can take me at face value. i'm pretty damn honest, especially emotionally honest. i try to say what i mean and mean what i say. Seems to be a rarity in women.
an ex-bf of mine and i used to have an on going dialog about having men friends. he said that a aman would much rather hang out with men. it's much simpler and there are no head games. they only wanna' be friends with a woman if they think they have a chance at her pants. He did allow for exceptions such as an ex who may remain a good friend, but overall, i've had to agree with him.
there've been so many times i was truly disappointed in a man friend when i realized that. but whaddayagonnado?
just my experience and thoughts on it.

Hey Canuf, you'd be surprised
Washing a woman's hair is something she's probably going to appreciate more than changing her tire

Well ladies, answer sd, if you were on the side of the road with a flat tire and I pulled over to help and happened to have a bucket of water and shampoo, do you want me to change the tire or wash your hair?
