LOL, I really can't spell worth shot but I cheat. I use Firefox and the Yahoo tool bar with a built in spell checker. Even at that I'm still only getting a couple of words corrected in an average post.
When I get an email from someone that apparently doesn't even make an effort to spell correctly they usually get a "Thanks but not interested".

I have 3 degrees - one is to teach highschool English. I can spell very well and I actually do type 100 words per minute with 97% accuracy...
but when I come here it's for fun.
I dont' take the time to be anal on here.
If there's typo and punctuation err's who the hell cares? get the message or don't.
Now if you think there's a genuine learning deficiency and you have an issue with dating someone who may have learning issues....then that's your call to make...
You're going to hold off on true love because of poor spelling?
Did you put that in your profile?

that sounds really harsh to me. how does ones spelling make him any less of a man or how he would treat you. there are so many very intelligent people that just can not spell. look past that, we all have our flaws and faults.

I believe there are people who are book smart and others who are common sense smart. I have a brother in law who cannot spell to save his own life. Not a sweeter man alive...would not change him for the world. He is not uneducated at all, on the contrary he is a very intelligent man. His knowledge just lies in other venues. I accept others for who they are, no one is perfect. Do I notice, yes I do! I've always worked in an office, proofreading material is a must. My job now expects perfection from its employees and we are reprimanded for not being so. I was job searching on the net on day and came across one of their ads. Wouldn't you know it had a misspelling in it. I thought that was pretty funny.

I often wonder how they made it through school. Although if you text a lot, you tend to want to abbreviate your words when you type anything.

I'll let go on IM's, but education level is shown through spelling and punctuation. Is it a turn off? No. The dumb ones need someone two.

I am not here to judge how proper someone spells. I am not worried about thier perfections. That is last thing on my mind. If they can't spell, maybe they do other more important things better.

Wow, thank you for all the responses. I know I should not base my decision on whether to continue with someone on their spelling but when it is soooooooooooo bad, I wonder about how much effort they put into other things. Guess it's just a pet peeve of mine.
