Seriously the question is "Can we reverse it?". People won't act unless there is a promise of success. Or at least a Good Chance.

The sun has gotten warmer, there's other evidence for that and there's nothing we can do about that. Martian ice caps, Jovian weather patterns, the 11 year solar flare cycle seems out of historical boundaries so who knows. Maybe it'll be 400 in the shade next week.
One plan to spray fine aerosolized H2SO4 (sulphuric acid) in the upper stratosphere to reflect some of the infrared into space before it reaches the surface but then if the solar warming trend is short lived we could wind up screwing ourselves worse.

unfortunately it will cause massive droughts wherever food is growing just fine now

Sorry its a cut and paste. Just got it.
Global Warming? New Data Shows Ice Is Back
Are the world's ice caps melting because of climate change, or are the reports just a lot of scare mongering by the advocates of the global warming theory?
Scare mongering appears to be the case, according to reports from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that reveal that almost all the allegedly “lost” ice has come back. A NOAA report shows that ice levels which had shrunk from 5 million square miles in January 2007 to just 1.5 million square miles in October, are almost back to their original levels.
Moreover, a Feb. 18 report in the London Daily Express showed that there is nearly a third more ice in Antarctica than usual, challenging the global warming crusaders and buttressing arguments of skeptics who deny that the world is undergoing global warming.
The Daily express recalls the photograph of polar bears clinging on to a melting iceberg which has been widely hailed as proof of the need to fight climate change and has been used by former Vice President Al Gore during his "Inconvenient Truth" lectures about mankind’s alleged impact on the global climate.
Gore fails to mention that the photograph was taken in the month of August when melting is normal. Or that the polar bear population has soared in recent years.
As winter roars in across the Northern Hemisphere, Mother Nature seems to have joined the ranks of the skeptics.
As the Express notes, scientists are saying the northern Hemisphere has endured its coldest winter in decades, adding that snow cover across the area is at its greatest since 1966. The newspaper cites the one exception — Western Europe, which had, until the weekend when temperatures plunged to as low as -10 C in some places, been basking in unseasonably warm weather.
Around the world, vast areas have been buried under some of the heaviest snowfalls in decades. Central and southern China, the United States, and Canada were hit hard by snowstorms. In China, snowfall was so heavy that over 100,000 houses collapsed under the weight of snow.
Jerusalem, Damascus, Amman, and northern Saudi Arabia report the heaviest falls in years and below-zero temperatures. In Afghanistan, snow and freezing weather killed 120 people. Even Baghdad had a snowstorm, the first in the memory of most residents.
Editor's Note: Special: Gore Went Nuts When He Read This
AFP news reports icy temperatures have just swept through south China, stranding 180,000 people and leading to widespread power cuts just as the area was recovering from the worst weather in 50 years, the government said Monday. The latest cold snap has taken a severe toll in usually temperate Yunnan province, which has been struck by heavy snowfalls since Thursday, a government official from the provincial disaster relief office told AFP.
Twelve people have died there, state Xinhua news agency reported, and four remained missing as of Saturday.
An ongoing record-long spell of cold weather in Vietnam's northern region, which started on Jan. 14, has killed nearly 60,000 cattle, mainly bull and buffalo calves, local press reported Monday. By Feb. 17, the spell had killed a total of 59,962 cattle in the region, including 7,349 in the Ha Giang province, 6,400 in Lao Cai, and 5,571 in Bac Can province, said Hoang Kim Giao, director of the Animal Husbandry Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, according to the Pioneer newspaper.
In Britain the temperatures plunged to -10 C in central England, according to the Express, which reports that experts say that February could end up as one of the coldest in Britain in the past 10 years with the freezing night-time conditions expected to stay around a frigid -8 C until at least the middle of the week. And the BBC reports that a bus company's efforts to cut global warming emissions have led to services being disrupted by cold weather.
Meanwhile Athens News reports that a raging snow storm that blanketed most of Greece over the weekend and continued into the early morning hours on Monday, plunging the country into sub-zero temperatures. The agency reported that public transport buses were at a standstill on Monday in the wider Athens area, while ships remained in ports, public services remained closed, and schools and courthouses in the more severely-stricken prefectures were also closed.
Scores of villages, mainly on the island of Crete, and in the prefectures of Evia, Argolida, Arcadia, Lakonia, Viotia, and the Cyclades islands were snowed in.
More than 100 villages were snowed-in on the island of Crete and temperatures in Athens dropped to -6 C before dawn, while the coldest temperatures were recorded in Kozani, Grevena, Kastoria and Florina, where they plunged to -12 C.
If global warming gets any worse we'll all freeze to death.

OneLife, I think there are things people can do to turn global warming around. We need to move away from coal and oil and towards renewable energy: wind, solar, nuclear. We need to conserve more. We need to control the non-CO2 gases that also contribute to global warming. None of these things are all that tough. Gasoline consumption may decline anyway just because the stuff is getting so expensive. We also need to stop deforestation. That's tougher, because a lot of it is caused by poor people trying to scrape by. But there has been regrowth of a lot of trees in sub-saharan Africa, so maybe others will follow their example.
Some folks have also suggested other ideas. We need to view these with caution, because they could cause more problems than they cure. One approach is to fertilize the ocean with minerals so that algae blooms will absorb more CO2. Another thought is to shoot sulfate gases into the upper atmosphere, where they will reflect sunlight. These are emergency measures, but we might need them for a time.

Newsmax is not a science source. It is an intentionally slanted news source, and they don't pretend to be anything else. So, if you want propaganda, go to newsmax. But if you want science, here's the NASA report on what is happening to the polar ice.
http://www.nasa.gov/vision/earth/lookingatearth/icecover.html
As you can see, the story is quite different from what Newsmax reports.
Cold weather happens in the wintertime -- this is still true. Some places have been exceptionally cold this year, others (like my city) unusually warm. To prove anything you need to gather average temperatures over months over the whole area of the earth. The snow in Greece doesn't prove any more than the record heatwave and forest fires in Greece last summer. Saying that global warming isn't happening because it snowed in Greece this winter is a little silly.

Neither is the NY Times but they spew their slanted garbage on a regular basis. Here are a couple more interesting ones. What’s a natural occurrence and what is man made? Nobody knows for sure. Yet!

Ok -- nobody answered my logical argument above. Instead we have an appeal to authority, which is reasonable. But who are the authorities cited?
First is John Coleman, a TV weatherman but not a climatologist, famous for the "happy news" format at a Chicago weather station and a founder of the weather channel. He says it's a hoax. He doesn't cite any facts about the temperature or the CO2 or give any scientific argument at all. Why should we believe him and ignore facts from NASA and similar institutions?
Next we have Timothy Ball. Check out his biography on Wikipedia. He works for the Natural Resources Stewardship Project, a think tank funded by oil and gas companies. Again, he does not argue from the evidence. His two articles just repeat over and over that it's a hoax, without any evidence to the contrary -- but elsewhere he has made a serious argument. It is that the global temperature rise is caused by the "urban heat island" effect -- where cities are hotter because of human activity, but this is no indication of global warming. The problem with this argument is that the most serious warming so far is in polar areas, and there are no cities there. Dr. Ball also says that global warming supporters are demanding "draconian" controls. This is false.
Finally we have one Dr. Shulte. Pay attention folks, this part is important. A major study by Naomi Orestes reviewed all the peer reviewed papers on climate change, and showed that climatologists are almost unanimous: global warming is happening, it's going to get serious, and it is human caused. Well, Dr. Shulte claimed that he had also reviewed all the published papers and ne did not find this strong consensus among scientists. But then what happened? Dr. Shulte never published his study. He withdrew his results!!
Why in the world would people believe these guys? Well, there's only one good reason: People believe them because they want to. They don't want to understand that they are being lied to.

Personally, I base my opinion on Popular science magazine, Scientific American magazine and the effects that I have watched locally for most of my life.
No offense guys....but, no way in Hell am I gonna change my belief in what I see with my own two eyes or what I know to be the cyclical weather patterns....just becuase a bunch of ordinary people on the internet tell me they don't believe it.
I got a guy at work who thinks that science is a word made up to confuse people......he also thought that when I offered an apricot stuffed donut..it would be full of guacamole'.......
Not every one on the internet is as smart as they think they are.
F*ck!.....I hate dummying down for people.
