Jeeeze, I can't believe in this day and age someone is still using Josephus as a source to prove a historic Jesus? No honest scholar secular nor non, would ever do that? If you do a little research you will find that, the passage supposedly about Jesus in the antiquitities, is an interpolation. It is been discredited time and time again. Right in the middle of describing the Roman put down of a Jewish insurgence, that passage pops up, completly out of context with what is written before and after it. The grammar, the syntax, or writing style do not match in the least to the writings of the book. This interpolation is generally credited to a Biship Eusubious (sp) who as a leader of an early church had no problem stating that is was ok to spread lies if it helped spread christianity. Now, as far as pliney (sp), his reports are not contemporaneous with the life and times of Jesus, what they are , at best, second hand reports from "followers" of Jesus. They give no more historical merit to the existance of a Jesus, than those of the Hercules or Thor, who if you are going to us the same logic and reason that you are using must have existed as well. The fact of the matter is there were historians at that time who never wrote one single word about a man named Jesus, yet gave a very detailed history of that reqion and the people in it. Sorry, this is only my nickle and dime response, I was just stopping by to get my DHU fix, and was shocked to see someone attempting to use Josephus in this day and age as a source for a historical Jesus.

Wow... Have not been in the forums for months and I see the posts have not changed.
It never ceased to amaze me how a forum meant to discuss religion always brought out primarily the non-believers and enemies of Christianity, especially Catholicism.
