It's great to be in a place where there are so many new people to make friends with. I've gotten emails and winks from some really fantastic guys. I almost always reply and I'm always appreciative when someone has taken the time to contact me. So, as a favor to guys on here, I'd like to tell you why your emails and/or text messages will rarely result in meeting a girl. (or at least a girl with my preferences)
When you send a girl a message and you are using text shorthand it's a turn off, straight up, that's just how it is. No matter how sweet you are to me if you refer to me as "U" I just lose interest. Here's a sample of messages I've gotten that were a total turn off:
hey u u r hott
u want 2 talk sumtime
i wana go 2 movie wit u
where u live b4?
Guys, if you're sending girls messages like this you can't possibly be taken for a respectful, intelligent, worthwhile gentleman. I'm sorry, it is what it is.
Why don't I like this?
1. It's painful to look at
2. I'm not 13
3. I think you're illiterate
Anyway, sorry for seeming like a total biatch but guys, really?

That's kind of funny you bring this up. I think if you have an outdated cell phone without the "qwerty" keyboard, then shorthanding texts is fine, because otherwise it takes all day to text someone. If you are writing an email on your comp., then there is NO excuse for it, it's actually easier for me to type the words correctly. I use shorthand on my cell texts, i'm certainly not illiterate, but honestly, "sumtime" is just stupid. I don't think you should blame the guys per say, you should blame the whole "FB-posting, twittering, 14-yr old little miss chatty -I'm-sooo-popular-read-what-I-had-for-breakfast" community (the world pretty much) for making this shorthand new-age lingo widely accepted! You even see it on the NEWS for christ's sake. I have a B.S. degree and I used to hate when someone texted me that shorthand crap. But then people would make fun of me for NOT knowing how to use shorthand, and say, hey, "what are you like stupid or something? You don't know how to text in shorthand?" So i guess you just can't win these days.

I agree, I also have an older outdated, pile of junk cell however I still take the time to write out sentences with punctuation. It makes my texts much easier to read. There's a reason we all went to english class in high school, correct?
