Some members of my family don't want to see me ever again. I have a sister who is always so mean. Now she wants nothing to do with anyone. Does anyone else have a relative who is like that?

yes. my sister and me go back and forth like cats and dogs. i only barely put up with it cause she owes me 36k. once she pays up i never, ever will speak to or see her again!!!! never!!!

You and millions like you, have these problems---what you need to do is STOP trying so hard--give it time---give it a long time--get on with your life and stop fighting this losing battle. They know where you are--if they need you--they can find you!! Maybe after a few months--whatever happened to start the problems may fade away and you can be friends again---MAYBE!! Relax--and good luck to you!!

My father and I have been estranged for over 30 years. I will not attend family reunions, or any event that I know he is attending. I will not even got to his funeral when he passes.

There is an old saying about Family. You invite them to Sunday dinner because you have to, not because you want to.
Families will usually be there for you through thick and thin. Even 30 seconds after they tell you all about your shorcomings, they will drop what they are doing to help you and support you if there is a crisis. Still, you don't have to like your family just because you are related to them.
I find most families that have these issues have them because of religon. Or, maybe they use religon to justify their judgements that they would have anyway because they need to tell you exactly how to live. Or bigotry or prejudice or some other issue that is more about them than it is about you.

My older brother has wanted nothing to do with me or our mother. I've always treated him with respect regardless because he IS family. Now more so than ever because at 45 he still lives and depends on our dad and dad is moving here this year from WA state, cutting the ties so to speak.

Several years ago, I read a story in Reader's Digest about a woman who went to her sister's funeral, thereby surprising other members of the family because the two women hadn't spoken to one another for some 15 years. When a family member asked why she had bothered to attend the funeral of somebody she hadn't spoken to in such a long time, the lady said, "I didn't speak to her today, either!"

my brother beat me senseless for 7 years
and my sister is so drugged out she's barely concious.

Yes...I do know the situation. Spent yrs trying to please everyone, being constantly critiqued, not included bc I'm from a different marriage. M is always mad at someone, now it's me. The 1/2 sis has probably told her every conversation we've had, only what I said..lol.
It was hard for me to step back. They were here for me when my H was ill or after he passed away. I had to finally learn the hard lesson at a very vulnerable & weak time in my life. I truly understood how they felt about me at that time when their hands were open & my wallet was closed.
It took a long time for me to accept this, but after looking back over the yrs, it's always been like that.
I've been fortunate enough that every person I was involved with had a decent relationship with his family & they embraced me & except one. I'm hoping for that again.
Look up narcissism...it may answer many questions for you.
