Some of the thread topics talk about the difficulty in getting a response back to a message. I'm sure this is a problem for both sexes and my guess is that it results from the Quixotic search for Prince Charming & Barbie. As the messages arrive in the 'inbox' the tendency is to first view the profile. Those that match the Prince Charming or Barbie mental image get immediate attention. The rest get ignored. Not everyone does this, but enough do so as to make it appear that the dating sites are jammed with a lot of shallow people (if not absolutely delusional). I was actually married for 29 years to a gal that can only be described as 'drop dead beautiful'. Unfortunately her beauty did not stop her from a self destructive path of alcoholism. The 'drop dead beauty' dropped dead from Alcohol overdose about 10 years after we divorced. The foolish Quixotic search for a companion really limits our chances of finding a stable companion.
For some of us, our age also limits the chances of finding a stable companion. If you are over 65 your chances are less simply because there are less of us.
US Census 2000
age under 18 26%
age 18 to 64 62%
age over 65 12%
Most of us over 65 types will meet the grave before we meet our delusional perfect companion.

I totally agree and it's so disappointing to write a nice email and have it ignored and deleted.
It's a shame to see so many people supposedly looking for a mate that simply won't take the chance to meet someone.
