It seems like with the gas prices being so high and food is pricey and pretty much everything else you need, it makes it a little difficult to be a single parent. Struggling to get a good job to keep your bills paid to support your kid without help from the other parent. I just needed to vent for a minute. I'm just getting to mentally and physically tired to shoulder all the stresses of life right now. Usually my faith and trust in god keeps me going but even that is shakey. Sorry to be a whiner. It's just hard when you have no one to talk to.

You have plenty of people to talk to here and you are not being whiney!
I was laid off due to state budget cuts for 15 months. Tell me about tough! I made alot more money working than on unemployment. I too am a single parent, I have an adult disabled daughter who lives with me. I just went back to work 2 weeks ago, working 32 hours a week not 40 and making a third less than I used to. But it is work, in the field I love, for a good boss who understands my daughter's needs and is also a good friend.
I grow a garden every year, always have, and summer means we eat good and I can and freeze what I grow. I shop the grocery ads and only buy what's on sale and freeze it if possible. Keep the thermostat at 60 at night in winter, we have electric blankets, so we stay warm and don't heat the house. AC does not go on till it has to in summer and we like windows open most of the time. Gas, well, not much we can do there, have a small 4 cyl. engine car, and never make trips unless I combine errands.
It is stressful, in many ways, but you are NOT alone! Welcome to the new reality of life for many of us?

Yes, being a single parent is very hard financially. Even with child support it is very difficult to deal with all decisions and experiences alone when dealing with raising kids. If you aren't already make use of all resources available to you like churches that will have a parents night out, the assistance with school supplies. It was a long time ago that I did that, I am assuming that they still have that in town where churches and individual donations are used for providing most supplies that a child your daughters age needs to start class. I think there was also a thing to assist with shoes for kids. Also one of the best things is the Missouri Division of Child Support Enforcement. For me it was a fight that took a very long time but it was well worth it. Their service is free and they will help you with getting the child support that you are entitled to.
My children are almost grown now but if you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to pm me.

I hope everything works out for your new job for you and your daughter. I just started a new job to working day and most evenings but the money just doesn't add up. I physically work my butt off for little money. But it is something.

I mow my neighbor's yard to make a little extra money, good exercise, get to be outdoors and in summer, it is an every week job.

There are some good people on here. We laugh and joke and tease and hijack threads, but all in good fun. Some on here I have met in person or emailed with alot, we are trying to get a camping trip going for this summer?

Im just not good at making friends because I'm a little shy and quiet and have trust issues lol the only best friends I had slept with my ex husband while we were married. I'm trying though. It gets lonely sometimes. My guy lives in tulsa so I only see him on weekends when he doesn't have to work. The rest of the time its me and my daughter. Camping trip sounds fun to get away
