Back in July 2008 I was surfing the web looking for a date on all these different dating sites. I had tries Yahoo, Match.com, ChristianSingles.com, and Cupid.com. I had a few dates, but nothing that really kept my interest.
A friend of mine told me about DateHookup.dating. On July 20th I went on the site and created a profile. I browsed the women that were in my area and one caught my eye right away. I e-mailed her through the site and asked her to contact me. An hour later I got a response, she asked me to IM her later on.
Later on we did IM each other and after a while she was tired of all the typing. She gave me her phone number and asked me to call her. We talked for a couple of hours getting to know a little bit about each other. We were so interested in each other we had our first date 5 days later.
Little did I know that she had me checked out before the date. She had an aunt that lived across the river from the town I lived in and asked her to see where I lived. She also had a backup plan in case she needed an out of the date if things didn't go well.
On the night of our first date we met at an Outback Steakhouse. She was a little late getting there because she lived an hour south of where I lived and wasn't familiar with the metro area. Things went well that night. In fact, she called her daughter that she didn't need to implement her back up plan to get her out of the date. The back up plan was for her daughter call and say there was a family emergency. Thank God that didn't happen.
Later that evening we went to see a jazz festival then went to Riverview Terrace Park, the local lookout point, to look at the spectacular view of the lit up city below. What an amazing night! I knew something magical was happening between us.
I made the comment that it was too bad the night was cloudy and the stars weren't out. Minutes later, like magic, the clouds disappeared and we had a starlit sky. We had our first kiss under that starlit sky. She didn't head back home until 4 a.m.
As they say, the rest is history. We got married on April 16, 2011 and went back to the same park to relive that night. Unfortunately, we were denied that chance that night because of police driving people out of the park after dark.
We are now buying our first home, in fact it is only blocks away from that park.
