Hey easy. I have two daughters. They are little still, 6 and 19 months. But I worry about what the future holds for them. I think that this vaccination is just an excuse to have premature sex. There is no way eleven year old girls know enough to make the decision completely on their own.. I would get her the education she needs and teach her abstinenc. That is what I am going to teach my girls. This world is too insecure for girls to grow up thinkin sex is ok and its the answer. Schools should teach abstinence and they should stop pushing this vaccination.

Cervical cancer risk can be lowered by increasing consumption of foods rich in beta carotene and vitamin C and by avoiding oral contraceptives, which are associated with a higher risk of cervical cancer. Avoid other risk factors including a high number of sexual partners, starting sexual life during early teenage years. Maintain emotional balance and a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and plenty of sleep to help prevent cancer formation naturally. I have 2 daughters that have not and will not be getting this vaccine. The words "medical practice" scare the hell out of me!!!!

At the ripe age of 16, and only 2 partners, pregnant, I had found out I had HPV. By the time I was 21, I had 2 beautiful daughters. When they finally decided to do something about my HPV, it was too late. I ended up having 3 misscarrages due to the scarring from having my cervix frozen to remove the "bad" cells as my dr. called them. At the age of 24, I had to get 'clipt n burnt' because of the excessive scarring. When they came out with the shot, I had a long talk with the family dr. and my daughter. We decided it best considering the family history with "female" cancer. She goes for her final shot this week. She understands this doesn't mean she can have sex.
You just have to remember as a parent, things are different now from when we were kids. We have to work harder than ever now to instill values into our children, and even harder, we need to INFORM our children of the dangers of sex!

The problem with people's perception of HPV is that most think it is just an STD that the only way you can contract it is through sex. This is TOTALLY not true. I was diagnosed with HPV in my early 20's after having several abnormal check ups and having precancerous cells. Afterwards my mom and my sister were both diagnosed with it as well. Turns out, certain types of HPV are GENETIC! Crazy huh? Well it is true, even though most people don't believe it. I know this shot may be new but if I had a daughter I would make it mandatory that she get it just because of our family history. But yeah this is all just my opinion!

i have two daughters 16 and 12. i gave them both the option to get it or not. the 16 year old did and the 12 year old did not.

I have two daughters just turned 14 & 15. I started their series right before their birthdays. NO they are not dating any boys or even thinking about sex. I have a pact with them if they graduate, go to college and don't have sex till they get married. I will give each one of them $10,000. but does that mean they won't ever have sex before then. Probally not. I hope they wait. I got the shots for my daughters because 3 out of 4 children have a std. I don't want to take any chance on them getting cervical cancer. They know I am not promoting sex by any way shape of form or I wouldn't be offering them a lot of money to do the right thing otherwise. I just want my girls protected. I think you should look at it like that.
