I have very strange musical taste, I suppose, "for my age"!
To varying degrees, I like: reggae, reggaeton (newer version of reggae), world, asian,
folk, 60's, 70's, lite rock, little bit of country, some zydeco.
I like very little heavy metal, alternative (altho some is ok), opera, and classical only rarely.

Steady for u, that should keep you laid back and relaxed
most of the time! Blues, jazz - did you ever go to the King Eddy
when it was still open, for the saturday afternoon blues jams?
Some great musicians went through that place.

Gee, guess I should vote, too, shouldn't I? I like several kinds of music .... big band, celtic, pop from '50s & '60s, folk, some jazz, some rock, some R&B, & country from the late '70s - mid '90s. The only things I'd say a definite NO! to would be Rap & Heavy Metal. In general, it guess I gravitate to the more relaxing stuff. (Getting old? )
Thanks for your vote, Steady & 'Rose. Thought I could count on you both. Wonder what we have to do to get other Albertans involved in the Alberta Chat group? In general, it seems only the 3 of us seem to get into it.

Oh, yeah, celtic and big band, me too! And a little bit of techno.
I don't know what the heck to do to get some discussion going on here!

Maybe if we think of something contraversial? But even with that, if they don't even check into Alberta Chat, how would they know its there? Rose, you check into several chats, do you see many Canadians? I spend most of my time on 50+ that have to do with music. Haven't seen a single Canadian yet.

I only see one woman consistently, she is from London, Ontario.
One man from Red Deer a few times lately. That's it.
I am signed up to Plenty of Fish, but find the site too busy
visually and hard to navigate. I don't like it, so never go there,
but it is mostly local, so might work for you.
And of course that embarassing, crude, crass Evileddy from down east (can't remember where,
ontario as well, I think)

I'm on PoF, too. Just seems like the same people all the time. This is so-o-o much better because I actually 'talk' to people from all over.
But I guess we're getting off topic, eh?

Country music is the best!
There is nothing better than listening to George Strait, Dierks Bentley, Rascal Flatts and many more!

Thanks for your vote, prettygirl. I agree with you that country is the best but I prefer the stuff from the late 70s thru' early '90s.

Nice music, 2blu. I still like hearing an occasional Roy Orbison - I think that was country?
I saw Shania Twain in concert in Calgary a couple of years ago - she put on a good show.

I've evolved into jazz and it has become my music of first choice to listen to now; however, I have very eclectic tastes, except for rap, hip hop and opera. I love guitar jazz, but my absolute favourite piece of music is Harlem Nocturne played on a baritone saxaphone (a sexy piece of music that IS). I'm also a country fan and love many of the new artists (I try to keep up - lol). I have also collected off the web and burned on a CD my favourite Doo Wop tunes. I once saw a doo-wop show live at the Jack Singer - great stuff. I also saw Buckwheat Zydeco when he was in town. I took my daughter and she loved it (she didn't have a clue before what zydeco music was). When he started playing that concertina, her feet started tapping like everyone else's.

I have no real Favourite style. I like a varity of styles, but avoide Heavy Metal, most Rap, and opera. I don't have kids to blame, but I am the second youngest of 9 which means I've heard a lot of different stuff and have grown a liking to it. As long as it doesn't repeat too much.
with 7 sisters I guess I'm more soft hearted then anything, but with my interests I also like anything that can be inspiring in some way also. An open mind needs to explore
