I started writing when I was 17, I love to write and I had about six books written all I needed to do was create covers for them. Before I could we had a house fire and lost everything, and since than everything I have started seems to get ruined or lost someone. Anyone else have that happen to them?

I hope and pray that NEVER happens to me. I'm very sorry to hear that you lost your books in a fire. If you work on anything else, I suggest putting it on the computer and have it saved somewhere where even if your computer breaks or loses the memory, you'll still have it in like a flashdrive or something.

I'm so sorry that happened! I agree with mr_cakes with this addition, make multiple saves but consider saving online too. You can save documents on say scribd or you could save them on google docs or (if you need more room) you can buy space from Amazon's cloud.

You don't have any copies of any of it? that is so terrible. A suggestion, is to buy yourself a portable computer, to print all copies, save an extra copy, email yourself a copy, and store it on a backup drive, and get copyrights--keep it all in one place in a fire saftey storage unit. Also there is writers software you can buy just for writing---books etc...

From one writer to another, I know how that feels. I never had a house fire but I'd almost completely finished a novel when I was 17, then I moved and all of it was lost. Now I keep a flashdrive that I store everything in and I keep it in my purse at all times and my purse goes with my everywhere.
