I've been walking to work since August, 2012. I lost about 14lbs so far and striving to lose more weight so I can be in my ideal weight. I also drink a lot of water and not a lot of soda. I drink a soda here and there but it's mostly water that I drink.

Losing weight is simple. You simply burn more calories them you intake. At one point I was about 288. Now I am 205 (keep in mind I'm 6'5").
For me the key was to eat food that was low calorie but filling. Egg whites. Chicken breast. Veggies, fruit, or simply small portions. Also work out a lot. I'm not talking walking. I'm talking a minimum of 30 mins of high end cardiovascular exercises a day. Also no liquid calories. Juice, sports drinks, even milk all have calories and you may drink what you burned off in the gym. It's not easy. You tend to be hungry but remember weight loss is a war not a battle. So just cause you slip up at dinner doesn't mean you might as well have dessert.

It really is all about caloric deficit. I tend to say if it is white don't eat it,shop around the side of the store, avoid all grains, and exercise. It is not a diet, it is a way of life.

One is responsible for their own weight and weight control regimen. One should never become dependant on another, nor use another, as their own denial mechanism.

hello....I have lost almost 100lbs. over the last year and kept it off..
I did it by:
1) Putting in my mind everyday that my stomach was ONLY THE SIZE OF MY FIST.
(ya know after about a couple of weeks, in my mind my stomach was small and
I would get the physical sensation of being full and even to the point of nausea
if I would try to finish-my food. Gosh I could no longer eat a whole sandwich even!)
2) lived in the boonies and worked hard everyday, just for daily needs.
(including lots of walking and hiking, hauling water and supplies,my form of 'the gym')
3) Got off most conventional meds. And started using more herbal.
4) Slowly changed my eating habits, I ate whatever I wanted to, in moderation! and if it was something 'fattening' I worked harder to use up the calories at something I enjoyed doing.
5) I still use lard in cooking and butter and mayo etc..... I want my food to taste good when I do eat....and so,for that privilege, I make sure I can work it off...
Because of these things I started doing, My eating habits have improved and I have started naturally, craving good foods, I never liked before.
I didn't concern myself with the weight I was losing, or check on it daily. I was burning calories by doing what I loved to do....being out in nature. I had to haul water to bathe and cook, so there was no way of being lazy...unless I wanted to be dirty and hungry .
I am now living in a tiny town and have more luxuries, and I have not gained any weight back, my eating has changed! If I eat high calorie stuff, well then I work my butt off doing something I like. If I feel lazy, well then I eat lighter calorie stuff.
I have tried all kinds of diets and none have worked for me, except this way.....I have also over-come some 'diagnosed diseases' by changing my frame-of-mind....
Wishing everyone the best of luck in quests of your journey....

One way that works is fasting the 1st third of the day, so not eating until your 2nd break at work(about 2pm) if you work the morning shift. The 2nd meal would be dinnertime around 7pm. Most people aren't hungry in the mornings anyway, so this eating schedule conforms to your body's hunger times, which really helps in being able to stay on this eating schedule and in cutting down total daily calories because you're eating 1 less meal a day. It's a form of an eating schedule called intermittent fasting, which you can google.
Some people may already be eating 2 meals a day and not losing weight, but the difference may be the lack of an extended beginning fast. So push your 1st meal back to the early afternoon, or 2nd break at work.

If y'all look at my pic, I'm a stocky guy. Well the truth is I've lost 80 or so lbs since January. I've never been a fanof sweets, my issue was alcohol. I think that's why I never craved sweets. When I put the liquor down pounds just melted away and I feel like a brand new man.

I cut out grain, soda, and dairy from my diet about a month ago. So im just eating fruit, vegetables, protein, and tons of water. What I use as a treat to myself is a glass of juice or a whole fruit frozen popsicle. I have lost 30 lbs. so far. When I get to my desired weight I will reintroduce some grains (whole grains) and very little dairy.

I have lost over 80 pounds since my high school days. First started to lift weight but once I learned about eating right I threw that into the mix as well. Now I do cardio, lift, play basketball, hike 5 to 6 days a week. Best way to lose weight is find a workout you enjoy and eat healthy. Also no harm to have a cheat day here and there either Green tea (pills or actual tea) help boost metabolism and drinking cold water will help you burn that fat off as well.

I cut one item at a time that I felt was a negative effect on my health.
First item was soda. At my worst I was drinking 12 sodas a week. But instead if cold turkey I slow cut it. Drink 11 week one. Then 10 week two, and so on. Until I hit zero. I mastered the addiction and now I can drink one without any issue.
So I applied this to the next items and thus began a slow change in my diet. It took 3 years to do but a nutritionist thought my weekly diet was great.
Now I'm focusing on exercise. And have lost 40lbs in the last 14 months.

Stopped drinking Sodas and switched to water. Still have the occasional soda if I go out to eat though.
Changed what, how much and when I eat. I actually started eating more often just smaller portions and try to have something every 2 - 3 hrs.
Started to do a small work out 3 times per week. Just walking, situps and such.
Went from being 240 pounds to 185 now in 4 months.
Would still like to lose another 5 - 10 pounds but they have been stubborn. Probably gonna have to increase my workout to lose more.

Liquor is mostly sugar, so you were getting sugar without even knowing it.
