I say go for it too!! I took my chance. I went about 1200 miles to meet someone from here. Of course it didn't work out on the relationship part because of distance but I had a blast with him, we're still friends, my feeling were hurt for a while, he respected that and treated me with care. AND! We still talk, almost everyday, as friends.
I would do it again, just for the experience!
Go for it, have fun and don't have any expectations, that way you or she won't get hurt!!! Good luck and keep us posted!

If she says YES.. great.. do your plan..
If she says NO, you said:
Now if she does say no then I go to plan B. I haven't figured that out yet. It's a work in progess.
So, you are saying you are going to meet her if she says EITHER yes or no?
Yikes.. be careful there! If she says NO, she is saying it for a reason.
Be a man.. do not bully her into saying YES.
Posting this thread is a bully tactic.. She has to say YES on her own free will, without ANY PRESSURE, whether it be from you, or pages of posts..
Sorry, but I would think you should communicate to her about your dating potential.
(dang.. I am backing out of this one slowly.. )

Uhm I gotta ask....did anyone do the actual math here????
So - time off work for the trip?
You going for 5 days to drink coffee?
Ok...seems reasonable.
Time off work/used vacation time with pay and benefits...I'll average based on your regional location and guess you may bring home after taxes between $800.00 - $1100.00 per week. (I could have checked your profile but that seemed too personal)
So - $800.00 vacation time used for one week off work
Flight? 1100 miles depends of course where you're flying into but again from your region going 1100 miles any direction - ain't gonna be good...so I'd guess your airfare at around $475.00 round trip and hope I'm close
so to date spent on this "coffee" we got nearly $1300.00 out of your pocket...
this doesn't include rental car, taxes, meals, other sundry expenditures -
You're thinking of spending $1,300.00 and one week of your time to fly 1,100 miles for a cup of coffee with someone you're asking us to encourage to say yes to your request...
Dude!
Dang!
Good luck with that!
Wow!

Bert I know its in the future, but why not ask her
and her children to go to the DH Bash your going and
bringing your boat, WOW that might even impress the kids.
Oh boy then there is a group of people there so no
more ockward than it not working. There will still
be fun to be had. Who knows you both could have fun.
Then she sees how you respond to the kiddos.
Mothers like that how a man responds to the kids.
Then the kids like to see how a man responds to
their mother.
All that and a vacation. Priceless

You see gone it's not the money I can go a blow 4 thousand down at the casino in a week. Now for me to do that would be a waste. As for work I'm under contract I haven't used any sick days or vacation. I get paid rather well granted working nights all winter does have it's drawbacks but I don't have a morgage. I just bought a new 2008 GMC out right no financing,in summer I may work the most 3 days outta the week.
But heres my math
Roundtrip ticket $758 first class
$404 Business class
Clarion Hotel $149.99 a night
Rent-a-car $312 for a week
Mad money $ whatever I spend
Being able to say I took a chance Priceless

bert - could we talk about you underwriting some air fares to the East Coast?
LOL!
Ok - the casino NOT a god investment with lasting benefits
I respect your thought process here and love your optimism.
I don't know how the lady could resist you.
If you were a female you'd be Drum's perfect Sugar Momma
and bonus - you live in a warm and suitable climate!!!
Gotta sister who's single?
