So I have read " The catcher in the rye" because someone recommended it to me. But finished and don't know what to read. Can someone recommend something I'm clueless on what book to buy!
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
I personally love the Lord of the Rings Series by Tolkien
Anne Rice Vampire series is epic
Catherine Harris Sookie Stackhouse Series - is interesting if you like the 1st person POV
Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba If you've never tried manga (Japanese animated books) you should seriously consider them. Most manga can be found on-line for free so before you buy you can review.
If you share the genre you enjoy most I may be able to provide better recommendations. ^^ No limits.

i really enjoyed dan brown's angels-demons/davinci code/lost symbol series. but you have to get past his ideas of "factual" and just accept his interpretation of what's real vs fiction. if you can do that, it's a great series.
also, peter hathaway capstick, well-known big game hunter & guide, has a "death in the..." series that is excellent. death in the long grass, ...silent places, ... dark continent. all excellent reads that will hold you in your chair.

"Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill. It's an oldie but a goodie.
I don't know whether to love or hate this one. On the one hand, I was pissed about the situation my parents and the university had left me in. This book provided the mentality I needed to prove them all wrong and pursue a successful engineering career.
On the other hand, I can't help but think about some of the things I missed out on for the rather obsessively single-minded ten years or so that ensued.

A couple of books that would good is Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, The Unincoporated Man, The Host by Stephanie Meyer. Or maybe you could enjoy a few of the classics such as The Things They Carried, The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and The Call of Wild by Jack London. I also think manga is cool with the drawings and stuff, but with so many good one, just choose what you're interested in. I personally like Bleach and some other ones i can't remember, but it's really all up to you what you want to read. Oh you could just find a library, you know.

An outstanding book, too bad she wrote only one. Powerful...
Many classics are great when when you re-read them as an adult:
The Great Gatsby
Pride and Prejudice
Crime and Punishment
etc.

Fairly unknown older book I remember the authors names it has 2 cause my mom has my copy it's called LUCIFERS HAMMER it's about a Conner hitting the earth the first 1/3 of the book is pretty slow and frankly took me a while to get through it but once the comet hits it's a page Turner and I can't put it down one of the very few books I'll re-read and have read it so much I have gone through 3 copies of it i'm normally not into those kind of books but you won't be disappointed

For a classic, "Huckleberry Finn" (by Mark Twain) is an all-time favorite of mine.
"The Star of Acabar" (Og Mandino) shall always hold a special place for me.
I've read "The Bridges of Madison County" (Robert James Waller) more than once.
Among current bestsellers, I'm just now finishing off the "Fifty Shades" trilogy (E L James).

Janet Evonovich, James Patterson. Dean Koontz, Patricia Cornwell, John Woods. Iris Johanson. all murder mysteries but i like them a lot hope this helps. write and let me know here on on e-mail. Mercedes Lacky, Christine Golden Fantasy still good but very different. try science fiction for a change of pace. if you really just want classics i suggest Jane Austin, little women was good and Jo's boys, eight cousins etc. i enjoyed Moby D*ck years ago with my children also secret garden did not seem to childish to me, Treasure Island i know i am suggesting some very young books so read the fly leaf before buying or better yet go to the library and buy books for about a dollar each and you won't feel that you wasted to much money if you don't like them. hope these suggestions helped just keep reading it becomes addictive and can help you through a lot of rough times . let me know how you felt about this and if it helped.

Just re-read LUCIFERS HAMMER again AMAZZZZZIIIINNNNGGGGG book anyone into science fiction should read it ... its sci-fi without all the orks and 3 nippled women lol comet hits the earth civilization lost dude surfs through the streets of los Angeles on a tsunami wave till SPLAT.... right into a high rise .... word of warning first part of the book Ohhhhh say 200 pages or so are very BORING !!!!! I've read this book a dozen times and still have to force myself through the beginning kinda hard to keep up with jumps between characters lots of scientific terms but believe me if you stick with it once the comet strikes its a page turned I can read the remaining 400 or so pages in a day and a half 2 if I have to work lol

"The keep'-F Paul Wilson. but you have to read it listening to Metallica's Master of Puppets over and over, lol. Ahh, nostalgia of olden days. think i read that book over 20 years ago.
also I would reccomend Dennis Lehane. he writes some pretty good crime fiction. you may know him from some of his movies such as Shutter Island and Gone Baby Gone. kinda cool if you can identify with what being Boston is all about, which I can having grew up in a small town not far from there.
stephen king's best may be the shining and a great book if you like horror is ramsey campbell's the influence, very creepy.
I also like sci fi once in awhile and Ben Bova's Jupiter is pretty good for a hard science kinda sci-fi.
also if you like detective fiction, Martin Cruz Smith's novels about the russian inspector arkady renko are pretty good, such as Wolves Eat Dogs and rose.
Ive read so many over the years but those stick out, that I can think of. keep exploring!
