I enjoyed the twilight series. However I only make it through one Sookie book. The Morganville series was interesting for the first eight books. Also I enjoyed the undead and unwed series by Mary Janice Davidson, though I have gotten behind on the last few books.

Personally, I really love the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. A lot of people hate on it because there's a lot of sex in the later books, but there's so much that goes on in the stories and I'll be damned if it doesn't keep you entertained!

The house of night series was good. I also really liked the vampire academy series. They're both getting pretty good. Wayy different than twilight but if you like vampires and a goood twist to it these series are definite good ones! By far my favorite over twilight.

I have been a fan of paranormal genre books since I was a little girl. I guess that's why I write them. That I can make a living from what I love is just icing on the cake. At the moment, I'm reading Sherri Kenyon's latest, Retribution. If you've never tried her work, you should. I've met her at a lot of writers' conferences and she's a great gal. If you want to check out my work, my webpage is at www.windlegends.org .

I like to write my own Vampire, stories and poems. Here is an example...GIving-In

I met you once on a shadowy street.
Your luminescent eyes caught mine in their stare
Unblinking lifetime, glowing like fire,
... ... you held me trapped like a deer in the headlight glare.
Closer and closer you came on silent feet, circling as you did
Still I waited and anticipated aching, empty as behind me you slid.
You whispered in my mind tales of ages past.
So real your stories, I was spellbound , till at last....
I felt your cloying, sweet hot breath on the back of my neck
I gave in as you took what you needed and left me with a longing,
like the need a child has for its mother only deeper
Waiting for the next embrace that will complete me.
I am sick with the need of you, hoping you don't come back -
praying you will . A thirst I cant quench, a hunger I cant fill
there is no rest in sleep, and my days are filled with my thoughts of the next.
So please come to me, my demon, my beast, my mistress and take me with you
or give me the peace in the grave that you escaped,
for I can no longer be a man, just a shadow, moving to your will ..
come, let us complete the dance that was started with that first short embrace.
I await you pale one, color you cheeks with the blood I offer,
take away this worm that crawls throughout my body and wracks me with pain.
Just a taste and I would be whole, a few precious drops is all I ask.
Let me feed you, once again pierce my soul to its depths Copyright by Jack Campbell 1992

I have a few favorite authors that involve vampires and the underworld:

Laurell K. Hamilton (Anita Blake and Meredith Gentry series)
Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse series, which is now HBO's Trueblood)
Katie MacAlister (all of her books)
H.P. Mallory (Jolie Wilkins series)

There are a few others but I can't think of their names at the moment.

The Sookie Stackhouse Novels by Charlene Harris are my favorite. Vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, fairies and basically anything to do with the supernatural, is present in this series. The show True Blood is based on them. Loosely, of course. Everyone should check them out.

My favorites are Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series, Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake, and the must-have for any vampire fiction lover; Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles. I also recently read the first Sookie Stackhouse, it wasn't as good as some people I know made it out to be but it was worth reading.

I've read Twilight, House Of Night, Vampire Diaries and Vampire Kisses, I could't get into them. I think they were too heavy on the omgthatboyissoooocute heartthrob romance that completely took the scare out of vamps. But to each his/her own.

BTW; MidnightEclipse - NOT a Twilight reference. -.-

By Far My Favorite Author .It truly amazes me how she's able to write an adventurous entertaining story while allowing a exotic intimate wild arousing sexual experience that turns into an breath taking romance. I also love the sense of humor and sarcasm that's used in the Dark night series I fell in love instantly my favorite book right now is Bride and Vanes story I believe the title is Night Pleasure.
