And who told you that the Atheist Organization "SHOVE ANYTHING DOWN YOUR THROAT"? Visit one of these groups and discover what we do. I give you one. My group (White Plains, NY)is involved in developing strategies and legal approaches to force the churches / temples to pay taxes -property / income. Other groups are working on separation of church & state. No once in my years as an Atheist (55+), in USA or in my other countries, I was a victim of indoctrination.

It doesn't mean church. Just like-minded people hanging out. And when you're new to atheism it helps to know you're not alone. If they do start trying to sell you something, just walk away.

Thanks...As I said to the nasty poster, I never had anything pushed down my throat when at an Atheist meeting...Not only these assoc. serve a purpose about Atheism but, as you said, they provide a social venue with like minded people. Very important. The length of this list should be mentioned in the Religious forums....
