or; like me, not willing to be with just anyone in order to say that we are not alone? I just don't think it's mentally or emotionally healthy to do the latter.  Does anyone have any insight on this matter?

I've been single fore 3yrs, and I'm verry picky!! I lost some one with class, quality, and suffistication!! Good luck findin that in my area!!! I'd rather be lonly than miserable hone!!

it may not be necessarily that we are too picky; maybe cautious would be more like it. especially if you had been in a relationship for a long time and are starting over.

I dont consider it being too picky. For me its about finding someone who shares the same values as I have. I have certain standards that I stick to and wont budge. I deserve the best in a relationship, the best for me. dont we all?

I don't know. My dearest friend (who lives well over 2000 miles away from me)once told me that I might be just a little too picky. Then he told me I emphasize too much about what I don't want.
I love this man. He really is my best friend. But at this point I know one of us could use some therapy, just haven't figured out which one of us.
Maybe I haven't had so much as a date in a long while because I am too picky...or something.

I don't think I am picky..........I just know what I want and am going to make sure that the things I really want are there and everything else is just gravy.

Ladyv and Blue, I agree with you both. Standards and commonality is probably a better fit than too picky.

Gin, you make me smile. You are 37 years old saying that "at your age, you can't afford to make another mistake". I truly sympathize with you!  Though I think of you as young, I do sincerely understand what you are saying. You have the right not to want to make the same mistakes you have already made at any age. Good luck with that goal!

No, I can't find a woman within my 7 year span I wish her to be=older than my sister(because that would be too weird for me to go out with a woman younger than my sis), but no more than 6 years oder than me. The only women who've shown interest in this single man were a woman 19 years older and a woman 14 years older! Yuck! I'm desperate but I have standards!
