hey there..well grew up with american quarter horse..big ones..and also work horses dad finally settled on shropshire cause we were doing the mule trade..god what a loving horse..the big ole shrops would follow like a dog when we went to the pond..swim with us..it was super and sometimes just wish they were or would of been just a bit quicker..went from shrops to belgians..no comparison..

Three Bars started the true performance horse. I love our cutters and reining bred quarter horses. They have the spice that you want with intelligence and the agility to get it done. The pure foundation stock just has a little too much stuborn to be a true competitor. I don't want a horse I have to fight with everytime I want to do something. I want some spunk and a willing mind.

well color wise....a well bred palamino with that flaxen tail and mane thats built sure can be easy on the eyes....but i have mostly owned bays or sorrels all thru out my life and theres been a few. I had a leo bred sorrel mare years ago that was built like a brick house and thats what u get with those leo bred horses that old bloodline that surely was built. I had a big 17 hand quarter/throbred years ago, that i ran barrels with when he was three, big dude dark bay with a big almost black spot on his right rump...that had professional barrel trainin on him and he was awsome, even with a born handicap of bein blind in one eye. Didnt effect anything we just took the barrel to the left as he was blind in that eye. He completely trusted in me and i in him we were a team workin it together.I could take him out in to the pasture or to the feedlot and run cows with him, and he absolutely loved it. would pin his ears back and get riteon those cows, and try to nip at em every now and then. he absolutely loved it. My passion is an all around, broke, seasoned rope, cowhorse, thats been there and done that. and hauled down the road a few miles..there is nuthin that can beet those horses in my book, just my personal preference

I will not ride a one eyed horse or a crippled horse ,(one of my good friends was killed when a cow ducked back under his one eyed horse) you never know when some thing like this will happen ,and I want my horse to be able to see it coming ..these things can happen riding a sound horse ,so why make it worse ?

I completely understand, its a personal preference thing as i stated, although i du have a young daughter who is a jumper and has been so since she was 5, and does ride jumpers bred for that as well, so i understand the english/dressage world and i do support that as well.

yeah i completely understand what ur saying, and i certainly dont go out seeking horses that are not 100% by any means. Soundness and safety are foremost on my agenda for myself or my family members who ride. he was ok at what he did cause it worked , but i would never of tried to rope off of him or any other type of competing.

Have you tried or seen the Haflingers in dressage? Mine are the draft style but the breed magazine seems to promote the newer dressage style. I'm more into the older draft style.

.
Actually I have! I had a haflinger I broke a while back...I took him to 2nd level and he did great, but he really preffered driving...he did that with a smile..
Dressage is starting to finally be less stuffy and upright about the breeds entering this discipline...we now have paints, qh,and even apps showing in the lower levels...its nice to see kids having a great time on an affordable breed..these horses unfortunatly can't compete at the higher levels because unfortunately they are out powered physically....its stilll nice to see all breeds found different things though..

How interesting. My mare is a Poco Bueno granddaughter. She's a retired polo horse, but was bred for cutting and ranch work. I do dressage on her. She's a wonderful horse to ride, and a lot of fun. Right now, I'm getting ready for my last show of the 2012 season in 2 weeks.

Rescued Bo last year when they found all those horses and donkeys dead or almost from starvation and no water. I got Bo and a donkey.
