so you mesure across it instead of around it???
If you measure around you get the circumfrence. To get the Thickness, which is probably the measurement that really matters to a gal, you use the formula. You take the total circumfrence and divide Pi(~3.1416) into it to get the thickness (diameter).
8.5/3.1416~ = thickness
If you want an ad-hoc measuring device each joint of your index finger is approximately 1" long so you have about 3" to measure things with

LIFETIMESKIER..your measured it correctly..if you want to know the CIRCUMFRENCE of a mans c*ck you wrap the measuring tape around the c*ck and get an actual measurement.
If you want to know what's the diamenter just measure it from left to right or just across it's width.
I have measured mine and thank GOD I have a reasonable amount of inches in length
(7 inches ) and I think I have a reasonable amount in circumfrence ( 7 inches).
I think I would not have been a happy camper if I found too many ladies who could not take me on completely

when i was in my early 20s a friend of mine and myself had strict rules about d*ck size.
nothing under 8 in. i would keep a measuring tape in my purse. see, a guy that's packing
8in won't mind if you size him up, but a guy that's a little short he just points out how long and thick his fingers are. i was a real asshole back then. what was i thinking! i wouldn't want a man measuring my breast size, or my waist.
since then my standards have completly changed, 7in is totally exceptable
