If any of you travel between Bend and Burns on Highway 20, I strongly suggest you avoid that wide spot in the road known as Brothers about forty or so miles east of Bend. The woman who runs the place has a screw loose. She threatened to shoot me because I pulled off of the highway and photographed the old building on the opposite side of the road from the store. I was not trespassing and was on highway right of way. As I was doing my photography, I saw her standing outside watching me from the store.
When I finished my photography, I walked over to the store to get a cup of coffee. As soon as I walked into the store, she began loudly talking about shooting trespassers from back in the kitchen while a young girl gave me my coffee. I do not usually let my temper get away from me, but I told her that if she wanted to try it, she had better get me the first time because I shoot back. I set my coffee down on the counter and left without paying for it.
I have absolutely no patience whatsoever for these people who move out into the country and take up this sort of stupid John Wayne attitude.

I know that little town. Friendly  I guess we know the reason it has never expanded.
