I was talking to our head mechanic today at work about getting a supercharger for your car. He had a 2010 GT and at the time was thinking about getting one for his. At the time he bought it the dealer offered to install one for about 3500 bucks. He went back a few months later and the price was about 5 grand he said. The price increase was due to the fact was they could no longer include it into the original price of the car. Still, even at 3500 bucks that’s pricy for most of our budgets. I’ll keep looking and asking around to see what kind of performance upgrades we can find for your GT at a reasonable price.

As far as the “car show” thing goes I’ll keep you posted on all the shows next year, or you can just go to “thanks2frank” on the net and they are all posted there. Also a bunch of us guys go to Liberty Park on Sundays during the summer just to hang out and tell lies. It could be somewhat intimidating to the uninitiated (I know it was for me) but it really is a good time. You just pull out a lawn chair, sit around and either people watch or BS with your car buddies. I did a car show last Labor Day and had a beautiful ’32 Ford parked next to my SS. The guys that had the 32 Ford where having a few beers and 3 little girls where looking at his car and they told them they could sit in it if they wanted to. When the girls all climbed into the car the owner’s friend told the girls “you can even pee in there if you want to”. It was too funny and I’m still laughing about it. Car people are just nice.

I got my poster in the mail this week from NECOA (National El Camino Owners Association). It’s kind of weird seeing my SS on calendars, shirts and posters, but there it is. Then again, the SS does photograph well.

Haha right on. Yeah I was considering that possibility in the future some time. Either a supercharger or a turbo, I'm undecided. Soon as I get this badboy paid off a little more I may try to refinance it to lower the payments some and start putting back to get some things done. Stock exhaust sounds pretty good, but I'd still like to get something that makes this thing sound more mean and throaty. Course, I'm also looking into the prospect of an even higher paying job, put some cash back that way instead of refinancing. I may have plenty of time to look, they just cut everyone back at the second job next week and I'm not sure if that's permanent or not. If it is, it won't kill me. Doing the math I'll make exactly what I did when I first got the car and I was just part-time at Home Depot and working that mcjob I left. But it definitely hurts squirreling away into the savings account to do stuff to the car lol. Might hold off on my snow tires and keep the extra I do have for a rainy day when I really need it, now. I'm managing on my all seasons, and don't have too far to drive to either job. Just sucks doing it lol.

I'd be down for hitting up that park once it warms up, if I have the day off of work lol. The pisser is I always have weekends off at Home Depot's MET team, but the second job just randomly schedules me around days and times that don't conflict with Depot's schedule. So the joke is I finally land me a nice, cushy job that gives weekends off and full paid days off every national holiday that falls on a weekday and I still end up working them haha. But I'll keep my eye out on those car show listings.

That would be weird seeing my car all over calendars and stuff, but that's pretty damn cool your car made it in there.

Oh nice haha! I think this is probably the first purchase I'm going to make for mine:

http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/PAI-27456/05-10-Mustang-Transmission-Pan-Dipstick-Kit-For-5R55s

It just really bugs the living crap out of me that they sealed the 05+ transmissions and you can't even check your tranny fluid without bringing it in and paying someone. I'd rather be able to see what things look like for myself than trust someone else's word over things like this. I've still been meaning to take the car in and change out the transmission fluid and the filter in there, just because I have no way of knowing if Ken Garff or anyone who owned the car before me has ever done it yet or not. Better to have spent the money and not needed it then to not and have problems later. $200 > $3,000+ any day of the week, lol.

I know what you mean about “checking stuff” on new cars. I’ve got a ’91 Buick as my daily driver and the heater isn’t working real well. It has no radiator cap on the radiator instead it has one overflow reservoir. That doesn’t do me a lot of good if I want to check the radiator itself. It seems like the newer the car the harder they have become too wrench on. I’m not against new technology like abs brakes or fuel injection but I really don’t feel the need to go through 3 pages of some touch screen to turn up the heat or change the radio station. I recently read an article where kids want cars that “drive themselves” and I bet they do because of all crap you have to do now just to defrost the windows. Not to mention it’s against the law to text and drive. Lol!!

You have to love those valve covers. The chrome has started peeling off the Moroso ones I have on the engine now so I was about due for some new ones. I’ve also got a new set of headers on the way that should be here any day along with some new front upper and lower control arms. I really wanted a set of “ceramic coated” headers but they are about twice the price painted ones so for now I’ll just live with the painted ones. My old headers have rusted out so bad one side has a hole in it. The deeper I get into the SS the more I realize just how poorly it has been put together by whoever owned if before I bought it. I really overpaid for it and my butt still hurts. Still, it did work as my daily driver for almost eight years and now it’s slowly coming back to life. Last year it was all about recovering from the wreck. This next year I should be able to finish all my suspension upgrades along with sorting out some trim, interior, and wiring issues.

Keep me posted on the “GT” dude and how did it do it that last big snowstorm? I was even having trouble getting around in my FWD Buick.

Merry Christmas!!

Haha so far the GT has managed in just about anything the weather has thrown at me, so long as I'm careful and sensible. Plus it helps that both my jobs are fairly close, within maybe a 4-6 mile range. I really don't have to drive far.

That sucks what you're finding under the hood and in your headers. But at least it's a good excuse to tear em out and put some really cool shit under the hood, lol. I'm looking forward to doing some stuff to mine, but it may be a good while. I think right now I need to whittle away at the loan payments and then decide if I want to just ride it out for the duration and get it over with, or refinance to lower the payments and start doing stuff to it with the extra cash that way. Won't lie, it'll be a lot easier just to get the loan over with and then keep on dumping the payments in the savings as though I'm still paying on it, I've always been pretty good about that with my money. I definitely don't want to do squat to the thing and keep it stock until the 1/4 mile strip opens up again in SLC. If I dump any kind of money into it, I foresee myself doing it with frequenting the 1/4 mile in mind lol. And I kind of want to see and experience for myself what it does at the 1/4 mile out here bone stock before I start changing it up, just to I can mark my progress by that as well lol.

Yeah it's driving me nuts that people don't want to work on their cars as much and the general consumer seems to actually be favoring the lean towards making it damn near impossible to. I mean, I don't know jack crap when it comes to working on cars. I can build a computer from scratch, but I'm lost when it comes to vehicles. Beyond checking and changing your fluids, changing spark plugs, doing your brakes, and basically the general upkeep that everyone ought to be doing if they want their vehicle to last. I guess I can at least do that haha. But still, I have the right people around me to show me how to work on anything that pops up, and I'm more than willing to learn. It grinds my gears that the ability to do this to our own cars is slowly being whittled away.

Hey for!!! Good to hear from you again!!! I hope your Christmas and New Year’s went well and I’m glad to hear your getting around good in the GT.

As far as fixing up the GT goes as long as it’s running fine I wouldn’t go out on a limb fixing it up for now. I know with the SS, I pay all my bills first and if I have a few bucks left over I’ll buy something for it. Like most things I buy; I figure if I can’t afford to pay cash for it then I can’t afford it. It keeps me out of debt. The stuff I do buy isn’t always big ticket items either. Over the winter I like to stock up on parts so when summer does get here I have weekend projects. I’ll buy everything from wiper blades, car wax, spark plugs and small trim pieces to keep me busy. This summer I’ll be doing all the stuff I didn’t get around to last year like fixing some paint problems and lining up body panels just for starters.

Speaking of parts all my new stuff showed up. My headers have to go back because they use something called a “ball and socket” (works like a compression fitting) instead of lining up flush with the exhaust. The new upper and lower control arms on the other hand are just awesome!! I’ve been looking for a set of these for two years and most where priced in the 800-1000 dollar range. I found this set on E-bay for 250 bucks and expected them to be made out of pvc pipe. Instead they turned out to be really quality items. I also got some new outside mirrors (mine are pitted really bad not to mention I bent one backing the SS into the garage) along with a new wiper washing reservoir bottle and some new grills that fit on my firewall. All this stuff along with my new carpet kit, stereo, and all the stuff I’ve yet to install to make my functional cowl induction, “functional” should keep me busy for a few days. Lol!!

I’ll keep you posted on my progress and please keep in touch!!!

Nice haha. Yeah xmas was ok, spent it being sick off my a** starting with new years eve. I must have looked like hell because both jobs told me to get the hell home that day lol.

Those are some good stuff and that's not a bad idea, stockpiling up stuff here and there. I just nabbed some wipers myself, the rubber started peeling on my drivers side (it's always the drivers side that gets funky first on every car lol). It was probably already beginning to peel, and I'm sure lifting the blades up while I scraped the ice off the windshield every morning probably helped that along.

I haven't gotten pitted mirrors, but I notice my headlights are all specked and pitted. Likely all the little rocks on the road during the duration of that car's life. I'm tempted to pick up one of those headlamp clearing kits, although those deal mostly with discoloration it still might help. That, and if I wax em up a bit. Not really gonna bother till winter is up lol. I've also been putting off an oil change just because I don't want to get on the ground while theres still wet snow and ice chunks on the driveway. Hard to believe I already put 3000 miles on it. For the first few months, before I started coming back to this site I was driving pretty regularly to Logan seeing some chick though. 50 miles up and 50 miles back every other day lol. Should have seen the look on the loan guy's face in the dealership when they had me back in there doing papers for a new loan because he didn't make sure my first one was actually approved before he let me drive off with the car thinking I was all good to go. It'd been about 2 weeks and I told him he'd better be sure this one goes through because I've already put 800 miles on the car by then and if I had to turn it in they weren't going to charge me for the time and mileage I'd already put on the car. I didn't go in there looking to rent a car, I thought I was buying one lol. Luckily I didn't have to get nasty with em' though. 2nd time was all good but the look he gave me was classic haha.

And I still gotta deal with getting rid of that damned scrape my dumbass put on the corner of the bumper. Again, plenty of little things to do once winter is over with. We spent last weekend washing our cars even though we knew it was going to snow again a few days ago. Mostly just didn't want to let all that road salt sit for long. We even poured some degreaser down the hose and then hooked up one of those flat lawn sprinklers to the end of it to let it spray under the bottoms of all our vehicles lol. For $8 I could probably just as easily briefly take it through one of those drivethrough washes to get the salt out from all the undercarriage, but our methods saved a few bucks and worked well enough.

I hear you on “waiting till winter is over”. I just hate working on my car in the cold. I did manage to put one of my new mirrors on but it was only three screws and not that big of a deal.

A few years back I ran into one of the guys I grew up with. He had a ’69 427 Corvette and a ’66 350 Vette before that and I asked him if he was still into cars? He told me, “I was lying under the ’69 in the driveway, in the middle of winter, putting in a new fuel pump. I had cold gas leaking on me, covered in oil and freezing my butt off. I got the new pump in and sold the car not long after. Now when people ask me if I know anything about cars I just tell them no.” LOL! Ya, sometimes it best to wait till the weather gets warmer.

Still, I can’t be without my cars. This is my winter project………

LOL! Yup, been there on my drive out here in my truck last winter from CA. I don't really take to naming my vehicles, but I did dub that truck "FT". F-ing truck. My radiator was worse off than I figured and it decided to "enlighten" me a few miles out before we passed through Vegas when it began chronically overheating. Luckily the autozone out there is a hub store, open 24 hours. So is their walmart. We bought a radiator, some hoses and clamps, new thermostat, and coolant. And a garden hose from walmart so we could give the thing a really ghetto flush in the lot of the gas station we parked at from their water hookup. We didn't go as far as installing the radiator, but got it just in case we wouldn't have an alternative out on the road. Put in everything else though and limped it here. Long story short, we crossed the state line at about 5am when it's the coldest, my CA a** is in a t-shirt with coolant soaked shoes, and it was god damned cold. Speaking of that truck, I haven't been starting it up lately. I let the battery die I noticed when I went out there tonight. Whoops. When it's lighter tomorrow looks like I'll be pulling out the battery stuff and jumping it. Don't want that engine sitting for long.

Yeah, not doing much more than basic maintenance myself till later on. It's about time to change my oil in the GT, but I think I'll push it just a little longer. I did finally have to do some research on what coolant to put in. Manual just says to use their motorcraft premium gold, and I'm not about to mix coolant types even if the bottle does say it's universal. Had a hell of a time finding it though and I'm not about to let a ford dealership somewhere rip me off for whatever they charge. Turns out it's a G-05, and all autozone and o'reilley's have are either the Prestone universal, their own knockoff brands of the same thing, or that dexcool. Walmart's selection was a joke too. And I doubt I'll go there for some time for anything because I asked the guy working the area if any of their stuff was a G-05 after he showed me their pittance of a selection and he just walked away after I asked and I muttered "Douchebag" loud enough for him to hear as he walked off lol. All he had to say was either "No." or "I don't know." Pep Boys carries some Zerex G-05. Long as it meets the "wss-m97b51-a1" specification, I feel comfortable mixing it in there lol.

That's funny, lol. If you can't work on your car though, a model is the next best thing. I just keep busy playing World of Warcraft after my work shifts. I'm a 30 year old man, but doesn't make that game any less addicting. Helps that a buddy of mine back in CA reactivated his account on there, so it's almost like we're chillin' in one of our living rooms playing the xbox again.

Yes I'm still here. I'm just waiting for summer to get her because I have a ton of parts that need to go onto the SS. Then their is the car shows and whatever else? I almost raced a 3 series BMW the other day (they are mutts) but after I caught up to him at the light he thought better of it and didn't want anything to do with my poor tired 454

I scored some new front springs for the SS on e-bay tonight. I've been looking for them for a few months now and these are "Moogs" and they usually cost about a 150 bucks but, got these for half that price. I'm broke now but I think it was well worth the price. Next year I'm rebuilding the engine. so I want to get all of this stuff out of the way with the interior and suspension. Thank god the Debster understands. We are both looking forward to car season and I hope a few of you show up this year. It may not be camping out but it is a good time.

Good to see your still kickin SK. Its been a real busy year for Moose and myself. Moose took up skiing again and we have just been running around with our heads chopped off. We both went car shopping and ended up with both of of us getting new cars. Still working 2 jobs. Had to deal with some medical stuff but all in all we are doing good. Tell DD Hi for us. Hopefully this year we will be back out and going to car shows and getting around better. We are headed to Vegas in May for Mooses B-day. I look forward to a vacation. Hopefully soon winter will be over with and we can get rollin again. Keep enjoying the SS and livin life. Sounds like your happy. I know I am. Take care and give DD a hug for me. Bye for now Tiger

Wow tiger!!! I thought you fell off the edge of the earth? It’s good to hear from you and I’m glad you and mooster are having fun!! I’ve been bsing with the new guy (forthehordekt) who got himself a new Mustang GT. Like all car people I know he’s just a nice guy. When summer gets here we are planning on doing some car shows together.

Speaking of cars, tiger; what did you and moose end up buying? You don’t have to say if you don’t want to. I’m just curious? Did you hear about that sinkhole opening up at the Corvette car museum? Swallowed up like eight rare Vettes. How tragic is that?

Speaking of some medical problems it looks like DD will be spending the weekend in the hospital. I won’t go into a lot of details because, like you I find it tiresome when people put their whole medical history on the net. DD and I both think we are indestructible and at our age that’s not always the case. The house seems really empty not having her here.

I’m really looking forward to summer and car show season. I have a ton of new parts to put on the SS and more on the way. DD got me a new “cooler” for my birthday and I can’t wait to ice up a few beers and head out to the garage.

Thanks for keeping in touch, tiger!!!

We would love to come to some. Hopefully winter will end soon and we can have beautiful sunshine again. Tell DD sorry she has to send Valentines Day in hospital and not at home with her sweetheart. Keep in touch we miss you 2. Keep us updated on the SS and everything. Ok here my car what it looks like but I didnt pay 17K thats alittle too much for a used car. Take care Tiger http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=in6whpK-qUk

Yeah, I feel you on the mileage. I don't get the greatest in my car, especially the way I drive it lol. Hard to keep the foot off the gas when you got a car like that. I think if Home Depot's MET team was still a traveling team I'd not have gotten my mustang lol. Luckily work is only like 4-6 miles away now.

Speaking of those 'vettes in that museum, one of the guys at mustangworld.com linked up the youtube somebody put up of the security cam footage of the floor collapsing.

Just a few updates; It’s about damn time I got around to them!!
First off the Debster is doing fine and will be headed back to work on Monday. I give her hugs all the time Tiger but, I just gave her an extra one from you. I like both your choices in cars. They may not be “hotrods” but are both very reliable from what I’ve seen working at the auction. As a matter of fact, my sister bought a new car a couple of years ago and before she bought it asked me what kind to buy. I told her “get a Toyota, you can’t kill them and they will be shoveling dirt in my face long before you need a new car again.” They really are great cars.

For!! Good to hear from you dude!! I saw that video and it’s just tragic!! I think four of those vettes are buried and it will be a couple of weeks before anyone knows what kind of condition they are in. I’m sure falling 30 feet into a hole and getting buried in rocks and dirt didn’t do them any good. I read it’s going to take a couple of weeks for them to get them out of there? We all need to stay tuned on this one. There is a lot of car history there.

Speaking of Mustangs, I was going through some of my old car pictures the other night and found some of my old Mach 1. It had a 428 cj with 2x4’s in it and got 4 mpg at over 100 mph, (don’t ask me how I know this). Anyway, I scanned this picture and thought you’d like to see it.

I'm taking the SS in next week to have all my new front end parts installed.\

ft end photo DSC01741_zpscfaed0d6.jpg

I could do it myself but I'm just getting too old to deal with some of this stuff so I'll let someone else do all the heavy lifting and I'll just deal with everything else.

Well got to get and if anyone sees Safety tell her I said hi!! Thanks for checking in!!

Hell yeah Toyotas are good vehicles. I've never owned one myself, but everyone I know who've had one all tell me the same thing. Before I got the mustang I was looking at 4x4's and a Toyota 4Runner was at the top of my list. Along with Jeeps, but that's just because I like the Wranglers.

Yeah it definitely sucks about that museum. From what I'd last read they had gotten 2 out and were working on cleaning all that crap up before getting to the rest. That was back when it first happened though.

That Mach is sick as hell! That's my favorite range of the mustang right there, the '69-'72 Mach 1's. One of these days...

This was my first car right here. 1985 5.0 Mustang. If you guys watched any of the original Star Treks then you've probably seen Capt. Kirk kick the crap out of plenty of aliens on that rock behind me lol, when I was younger I lived with relatives in Valencia, CA and Vasquez Rocks was close by. I was 20, so it was about 11 years ago. The paint was oxidized to all hell, I had to replace the carburetor (was the last year before they switched to fuel injection, I believe), and give it some TLC to get it running right. But for a first car, it was fun as hell. I think I had more fun driving this even though my mustang today has some more balls to it. This was a manual transmission though, and I miss driving a manual.

You gotta love a 5.0 fox body, for. I’m guessing in 10 or 15 years from now they will start commanding the same type of prices that being asked for muscle cars from the 60’s and 70’s are now. I had no clue when I bought my ’69 Charger for 450 bucks that 20 years later (and a lot of work) it would sell for 15 grand. It makes you wonder what is out there today that is going to be tomorrows “collectable”?

I got my new front upper and lower/ control arms and springs installed this week. I dropped it off at 8:30 Wednesday morning and got it back at 3:00 pm and 400 plus dollars later the following day. The handling is a lot worse on it now because it needs an alignment and they can’t do the alignment until I replace some tie rod ends. It just never ends!!! I guess I’ll be ordering some more new parts and at least the weather isn’t too bad so I should have it all sorted out in the next few weeks.

On the plus side they’ve cured all the “thunking and chatter” that was going on in the front end and the steering is a lot smoother now. The new springs also dropped the front end about 2 inches and I’m not sure what to think about that? It doesn’t look too much different but I can tell it’s lower.

Here are a couple of pictures…………..

Oh nice lol. That's about the same story on my s10. Before I came out here I needed to replace my bushings. They also found that plate all cracked on the driver's side, and I got my springs replaced. I asked if the tie rods were cool, they said yes but I'm thinking that they were full of shit and just didn't want to do it because they're shot and I've got my tie rods sitting here right now waiting to go in. I paid for an alignment that they didn't really give me. Either that or the alignment just didn't do crap because my tie rods were in fact toast. All I know is that the handling is pretty terrible, although I did see an improvement once them bushings got replaced and it didn't feel like I was holding the butt-end of an assault machine gun every time I hit the brakes doing more than 45 or so lol. That actually warped my rotors pretty good and I had to replace them, too. It wasn't until I bought and then got behind the wheel of my mustang that I got back into my truck and really went .

Haha, if those fox bodies ever go for that kind of price then I'll really kick myself in the a** for letting mine go. You never know though. I know right now that they're fairly cheap to get, and everyone loves them because all the aftermarket parts are pretty cheap and it's the cheapest route to making some 9-10 second beast on the 1/4 mile if you feel inclined to do so. Granted you'll still spend some hard cash, but it's cheaper. I picked that 5.0 up for $1400. I've seen em' a little cleaner than mine go for about $3,000 - $4,000. I was fairly tempted to get another one. But ultimately I don't want to put all kinds of work into my car lol. Maybe one of these days, after I pay the '06 off I might just for giggles. But not to rely on for getting around in lol.

Score! I know for a fact I got Saturday off. Be nice if I can nab that Sunday off too, then I'd actually have a couple days off from both jobs in a row lol. It'll be payday weekend too, so double score on that lol.

Decided to have a bit of fun with that dirty a** rain/snow that came down before I get around to washing all that off my car. Can't really read it much from all the bright reflection/glare. And my cellphone doesn't take the greatest of pics at times. It reads "If you're going to ride my ass, at least give me a reach-around."

Kool, for. Me and the Debster are going on Saturday to. We plan on getting there about eleven. Parking is a b*tch there so I’ve found getting there a tad bit early helps. If we happen to run into you, I’ll buy you one of those seven dollar beers they sell.

Haha right on. Yeah I was looking at their parking instructions and I thought to myself, "That looks like it has the potential to be a pain in the ass." lol. Will definitely be there wandering around. Ought to go see if I can figure out where my old digital camera went to. My cellphone sucks at taking pics lol.

What a great day!! I just got back from the Autorama and had a really good time. Great cars, nice people, scored some body shims I needed and even got to meet Linda Vaughn (click on this link if you don’t know who she is, http://legendsofnascar.com/Linda_Vaughn.htm ). One more day left so if you haven’t made it out there yet I suggest you get your butt into gear.

Here are a few pictures of my favorites in the show…………….

Linda of course, she couldn't have been a nicer person and took the time to chat with everyone she met.

I used to own one of these. This car was used in a movie but the same guy that built it built mine (DK Watson) and it looked pretty much the same. Remind me to post pictues of it some time.

Out of all 450 cars at the show I think this was my favorite. It just "looked right" because of the subtle way things where done on it. It was a "what if" car as in what if Ford had built a '70 Boss/Shelby Mustang. Just, very nicely done

Yeah there was some good stuff out there today. Glad I went. I came down a little sick so I wandered around checking things out for a few hours and made my rounds, and then headed back home and got in bed for the rest of the day lol. Lots of cars that were nicely done.

This one caught my eye because I'd hadn't seen any trunks on a mustang that pop open that way, and reading up on what they posted it looks like this guy was making a custom run of something that Ford rejected.

Got me all nostalgic, my old foxbody was one year older than this. Looks exactly the same though, aside from the spoiler. I'd wanted mine in black.

I kind of want to do this to my mustang, now. You can't really see the texture of the paint in this pic but it was some weird plasti-dip ordeal. I figure f*ck it, I got a few spots to touch up now on my current paint. Plenty of rock chips, that spot on the rear bumper that my dumb a** rubbed a concrete post on several months ago, and now last night my blind-ass stepdad backed into my front bumper and rubbed off a bit of the paint. At least that one wasn't too noticeable, and it cracked his bumper, not mine. We got like 7 cars in the driveway and I'm getting really sick of having to rotate our cars around. I had to stop and straighten out before I biffed the curb because my brother's wife had parked too far over and didn't leave much room, and that f*cker just kept on backing up, he wasn't even looking behind him. Ooooh, I was pissed last night. But, long story short, seems like due to the texture of this paint and the fact that aside from just driving more carefully it's all the rock chips you'll never be able to avoid and we're all going to need constant touch-ups out here, that texture this paint had seems like it would hide the fact that a small spot got touched up a little better. So I kind of dig that.

I’m glad you made it to the show, for. I wish I could have run into you so we could have said “hi” to each other. I looked at that rubber dip website. I’m not quite sure what to make of it? I know if you use it on you paint it’s like one big “clear bra” and you can use it to paint your rims to. I’m just not sure how well it would hold up? I think if I was you for, a better way to go would be a clear bra. I’d have to look at your GT to see how bad it is.

All in all I was kind of disappointed in the Mustang/Shelby turnout. They had them scattered all over the place and they should have had a lot more of them considering this was the 50th anniversary of the Mustang. I’ve talked to a few of the guys that I do car shows with and this is one show they don’t like to do because it’s a three day event and is very labor intensive on their part. I’m guessing a lot of the Mustang guys feel the same way.

I’m still waiting to finish the front end on the SS. I received two of my tie rods ends yesterday but I’m still waiting on the other two. They are being shipped from Florida so it’s going to be at least one more week before I get everything installed and get the alignment done. That’s okay, it’s not like I don’t have a million other things that still need to be done on the SS. If all my parts aren’t here tomorrow then I’ll switch to plan “B” and install my new tailgate trim, new drivers side mirror and get that out of the way. After that’s done I get to do all the hard stuff, replacing the headers, new carpet kit, chasing electrical gremlins and detailing just about everything.

Summer is coming and I’d like to get everything out of the way so I can just sit back and enjoy it when it gets here. I ran up to the park last weekend. It was still a tad bit chilly but like me a lot of my buddies are done with winter and trying to get an early start on summer.

HI Tiger!!!

It’s nice to know your still around!! I read about that Shelby and I’m guessing it’s going sell north of a half a million bucks. It could bring more, who knows?

I talked to Gramz a couple of weeks ago and she’s gearing up for car season. Because of all the work I need to do on the SS I still don’t know when I’ll be doing my first show this year but I’m shooting for the one at Applebee’s on the 20th of next month. I’ll keep you posted.

Yeah, I've been doing a little more reading up and asking around since I saw that paint-up last weekend and I'm kind of sitting on the fence with it. Seems like a lot of people who've talked to me about it have basically just done it on some trim and bumpers to their beater cars, and say it held up decent for what they paid and the ease of applying it. But apparently, it sprays on thick and you can just peel the crap right off with no effect to your paint underneath. So it seems to be more of a gimmicky thing for people who want to change up the color of their car with the same sort of whim people have when they decide to dye their hair something else. I don't know, kind of lost a lot of the appeal it initially had for me lol.

You know, I was hoping to see a lot more mustangs as well. Was a decent turn-out. But overall, I probably spent about 2-3 hours there and circled the place a few times. Ah well, still thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd have probably stuck around a lot longer if I hadn't come down with that cold, coughing my a** off lol. I just now finally started feeling better enough to smoke my e-cig today. It'd been years since I've checked out any car shows. 2006 or 2007 was probably the last time I'd gone. I have an aunt in southern california with a 2004 mustang cobra, she likes to bring it in every year when Knott's Berry Farm gives over a good portion of their parking lot and they hold the Knott's Fabulous Ford show.

Car show season is just getting started, for. I don’t know if you saw that list of shows I posted for this month but there is already a ton of them. I’m planning on doing the one at Applebee’s on the 20th ; you should come on up if you get the chance. I have all the new trim on my SS on as well as some new mirrors. I finally got my new inner and outer tie rods and I’m hoping to get them installed this weekend. The weather is going to be dicey so I hope I get the chance.

My new headers showed up yesterday. It looks like this set is going to work!! Still, it’s going to take a few beers to bolt these puppies on. I wish I could have afforded the ceramic set because I have to paint these and it’s a pain because you have to heat them up, cool them off, and heat them up again, off and on to get the high temperature paint to cure. If you don’t get the paint to cure it just starts to flake off. Headers are such a pain!!

hookers photo DSC01810_zps5b69f0f6.jpg

I still have a ton of detail work to do on the SS, along with installing the new carpet kit, stereo, ect. It just never ends!!!

Haha score! Sounds like a pain in the ass, but I'll bet it'll look freakin' nice once it's all installed. I ought to be doing some things to mine. Gotta fix my scraped bumper, but first things first I need to find the time away from working two jobs to take my car in and get that tranny fluid flushed. I don't think the dealership's service dept is open on the weekends, so I have to find time during the weekdays and that's been the trick lol. I hate how these newer transmissions are sealed. They basically don't even give you a choice on doing it yourself anymore, though I have found some youtube videos on some guys who have found ways around it. Just doesn't seem like you're accurately gauging whether or not you're putting in the proper amount, though. So it makes me leery trying to go that route. Will be picking up some oil to change again, and rotating my tires this weekend lol. Basic maintenance on the plans for me lol. I'm glad I caught it, the outside edge of the tread on my front tires look brand spankin' new still, but I caught the inners wearing down. They haven't worn down very far, so I can get away with swapping the rears with the fronts for now lol.

I'll have to see what I'm working on the 20th. I ought to request that sunday off just because it's my b-day lol. But it'd be fun to shine up the beast and pull in.

I wouldn’t sweat doing anything on the GT until you get some time, for. After all it is a new car and if there is one thing I’ve learned about working on cars over the years is that it’s best not to rush things. Just take your time and get it done right.

A case in point would be new tie rod ends. I spent 4 hours last weekend just trying to get my new “out of the box” tail gate molding on last weekend. I figured everything being new it would be easy to put on but instead what should have been a 20 minute job took hours because not everything goes together as it should even if they are new parts. I know the tie rod ends are an hour job at the most but I also know I’m dealing with parts that may or may not work, 40 year old rusted on nuts and bolts and the weather so I put it off for now. Like you, I also have to work this weekend so I thought it best to put it off for a week until I really have a couple of days to work on it just so I can deal with any problems I encounter. And with this car there is always something.

Building cars is a lot like building a relationship/romance. Unlike camping, long walks on a beach or dancing it takes a vast amount of time, money, patience, tolerance and commitment. Things women say they want in a man yet seldom recognize it or understand it when they come across it.

Bwaha! Ain't that the sad truth sometimes. Though I guess that's a two way street, I'm sure there's plenty of things that my exes have done that I failed to appreciate or recognize.

And yup, even simple crap can often be a headache. Changing plugs in that S10, for example. My neighbors must have thought I was a stark raving lunatic with all the cursing I did at that thing back at that apt. in CA lol. Jesus H. Christ, I never imagined the first time I changed my plugs in that truck that I'd have to jam my arm up under the wheel well just to effectively access the plugs in the center on both sides. I figured it'd take like 20 minutes and a little over an hour later and I was fighting those two plugs still haha. Needed to get done, but it was one of those things that you find yourself asking "what the hell did I just get myself into!?" That was one of the first things I looked at when I was at the dealership and we popped the hood of my mustang. How accessible are those spark plugs, lol. More room in that engine bay than there was in that S10, Chevy sure did cram all that crap in there.

I've still got those tie rod ends for that truck lol. A job I'm not going to start until I take the time to figure out what's up with that red brake light keeping me from passing safety. Basically of putting it up on jacks and popping off all my wheels to clean and spray those sensors under there doesn't do the trick, I'm not dumping time and money into that. The engine is on its way out anyhow. If I can cheaply get rid of that brake light, then so be it. I'll pop on them rods, register the truck, and keep it around as a backup vehicle and a hauling mule till it finally dies lol. Otherwise, I'm just gonna get rid of the bastard for whatever I can get out of it.

Found this posted up today on mustangworld. I'm not too keen myself on the look of the 2015 mustang, but I think it's pretty cool they're adding this as a feature so if you want to do a burnout in the waterbox at the 1/4 mile you won't be pissing away your rear brakes in the process.

Easter Sunday and I did my first car show of the year, ya!!! It felt good to get out with some of my car buds and meet some new ones. The SS got a lot of looks so I can see that some of the time and money I’ve been putting into it is starting to pay off. I wasn’t sure if I would even make it because I had to a replace some tie rod ends the day before and I wasn’t sure if I could get the old ones off. I had already tried the weekend before without any luck. I ended up borrowing a BFH (big f**king hammer) from one of the mechanics at work and finally beat it into submission. I’m pretty much done with all my suspension work now. I think my next project is going to be getting everything under the hood looking right. I’ll keep everyone posted on that.

When it comes to building cars there is no “light at the end of the tunnel”. Only the next project and that never ending abyss that all your time and money disappears into.

Here’s some pics from the show……………………

Found this posted up today on mustangworld. I'm not too keen myself on the look of the 2015 mustang, but I think it's pretty cool they're adding this as a feature so if you want to do a burnout in the waterbox at the 1/4 mile you won't be pissing away your rear brakes in the process.

That’s pretty kool, for. I wonder if that’s something that you could “retro-fit” into your car?

Hell yeah, I'd be tempted to if I ever start doing enough to my car to where I regularly take it to the track. From what I understand, it's been an aftermarket idea and Ford decided to throw that in for the 2015. Not sure if it's an upgrade you'll have to pay extra for at the dealership, or whether it'll just come stock on everything. But cool idea, I dig it.

Those are some great pics. Wanted to make it out there, was going to request the day off since it was my b-day anyhow this easter. But of course, the second job that usually never writes the schedule more than 2 days in advance of that particular workweek decided that now's a good time to start writing it several weeks in advance lol. So they beat me to the punch. Oh well, the new assistant manager had good intentions by finally doing it that way, and there'll be plenty of other car shows.

I thought I better post something before people think I’ve died or something. Between working on the SS on weekends and work I’ve just been beat. I’m not as young as I used to be and it’s all been taking its toll on me. I have managed to whittle away at my stockpile of car parts but the new headers still aren’t in or the carpet kit and new stereo. The SS still has a long way to go.

Still, been working on the engine compartment and I’m seeing some improvements there. Take a look…………….

I have a Chevy HHR it's the 2011 model and this light came on and my screen tells me my esc is off. I read my Manuel it says take it to a dealer but they won't tell me a thing and I read online that most Chevy dealers charge a lot to look at it diagnose and fix it. My question is what is it? Why do I need it? Is this just a scam of chevy if you get one of these cars they program this to go off right after the warrantee expired to get more money from you?

Read it and it tells you what it does why it is important but doesn't say why it would stop working and what must I do to get it working again. Plus why must I go to a Chevy dealer why can't I go to a reg mechanic shop? I read online you can disconnect the battery and it re starts the system .. Remember the good old days when I had a little car that had none of this crazy electrical stuff. One day google will put out a car that drives itself you just sit there.

If your car is still under warranty, dream you must take it to a dealer or an authorized GM service center in order to keep your warranty valid or to have any work done on it under warranty. If it out of warranty you can take it wherever you want. Still, you can run it over to Autozone or O’ Rileys and they can pull the trouble code for you for free and that won’t have any effect on your warranty. I hope that helps and if you have any more questions dream get ahold of me.

I keep forgetting to post the months car shows so here is the list for this month………….

Thank you for your help my HHR is out of warrantee and Chevy wants to charge $150 to just look at it the code that keeps popping up is ESC. My friend has a machine he will hook it up to so I'm going to try that and also I read online just un hook the battery cables overnight and re set the system I asked Chevy they said sure you can try that I also asked what the code means how would you fix it he said I don't know just bring it in.

Btw you can call me Lisa .. Well found out if I put air in my tired then re start the system then more then likely the ESC will probably go away so I'm not giving Chevy a dime to fix this as I'm pretty sure I can do it myself. Anyway I've been given some great advice how to fix it from a few people and as always I'm greatful for any help. I plan to sale this car someday and look for something I like more.

http://www.carcomplaints.com/Chevrolet/HHR/2011/tsbs/

Listed down at the bottom of this site are about 3 TSBs, or technical service bulletins, listed for the 2011 Chevy HHR. From what I've read on various Mustang message boards, I know that Ford puts out their TSBs and you're supposed to be able to take your vehicle in and have them address it at no charge to you. Some people have banged their head against the wall actually trying to get the bastards at their dealership to honor it. What I'm not sure of is if they will only service and address these TSBs if you're still under warranty.

I'll bet it works the same with Chevy. Might want to call up a couple different Chevy dealerships in the area, quote those 3 TSB issues regarding the Electronic Stability Control, and see if they'll address it for you without charge regardless of your warranty being up. Give them the TSB numbers so they can't accuse you of just being full of crap. They might not like the fact that you know about them, as those TSB notices are generally only sent out to their techs at the dealership lol. Worth a try.
