Nerves are shot trying to trade with slow dial up. If I get facebook at $40 I will not daytrade it. So it will probably go to $20 or less but will ride it all the way down. About as safe as betting on a bank. Bank of America earnings tomorrow. Chickened out on ebay tonight. Haven`t checked it since I saw they get 30% of your selling price. Paypal is making the money now.

I am staying defensive with a little dabble in tech. I hope that works out for you.
I am seeing some dips in the foods, but pharma and utilities are strong. Some of my techs are really out of favor. Japan is holding pretty well.

Cool just made $150 on aapl and sold $15 too early. Only had 7 shares. Not bad for an hour but was scared of losing the facebook money. Wow 110 billion cash.

Znga does their earnings tomorrow could be a money maker. Sat on ford long enough will trade it for it. Unless it makes a pop before I get to it. Hope it will go back down under $9 first.

I just picked up some KOL. It's a sector fund. The coal companies are getting hit hard because of low prices in Natural Gas, but the CEO of Peabody thinks that is out of line with the business model. They are selling the coal overseas, not to US generators, and it cost too much to convert a plant to NG. Coal is still the major power source.
It might take a while for coal prices to recover, but NG is already moving up. The warm winter didn't help.

Those out of favor techs did good. Sorry about the name dropping. They were UIS And CSCO. I made a tidy profit on UIS and I am still holding CSCO. I really didn't want to make this about actual trades.

My fault for not making money on znga I got greedy. Didn`t notice amazon earnings were the same day. When facebook makes it`s ipo znga will fly or die. Not sure facebook is a good idea. Missed some good ones so will take a chance.

When I do individual stocks, I stick with a focused list. I don't have the time to research all of them. If I miss one, it's no big deal. Another opportunity will present. Just the same, I try stick with the diversification of funds, and only play with the hedges on the fenceline.

Looks like I got the date wrong.
Cisco isn't until the 9th.
Today was Pfizer. Not so good, but the stock is holding up. Holding up enough to let go for a tidy profit.

Saw plx up 20% but getting too close to facebook ipo. Not taking a chance to get stuck and have to lose money like I did on znga. May be a bad choice but will try it. Way too many shares out but no worse than others if they can make it work. May be a little to much family involved. Seeing problems.

Ouch green mountain coffee roasters down from $50 t0 $28.50 Need to quit buying because they are down 45% in one day but so far worked on 3 out of 4. Earnings didn`t look that bad so they throw in accounting problems. Put a sell bid in $5 higher will see. Payed $29.75 so could be a bit greedy.

Japanese market wasn't even open for two days, but the American traders are pushing down the funds.

Not worried gmcr and znga are probably better than getting facebook the first day but at worst can still try a few of them. 2.7 billion shares and they are talking it up like a gold rush.

No, I didn't sell. They beat on earnings and the market didn't like the forecast.
I guess I am a "Long term" investor now. (I always was)
I am pretty sure it will go back, eventually. I was hoping it was a mistake.
If I didn't already own it, I would be buying, so I just can't sell.
They made a ton of money.

Ugly. They lost 2 billion on some bad trading. Compared to last years earnings, it really isn't a lot, but the stock got hammered. I have some Morgan Stanley bonds, and they got beat up. These bozos don't seem to realize that they are two different companies, and that bonds are different than stocks.
The inmates have taken over the assylum. It's a good time to become aloof.

Wish I would have done the sell in May and go away. My Ira is the same. They are changing to class A shares I hope that means we get a dividend. Know better than that though and will be happy with just a few facebook shares. Might not lose as much and if it goes big I will have a few.

Read the prospectus. It will detail the change. Dilution can be a nightmare. Even if they increase shares at the market price, some broker walks away with a fat paycheck of YOUR money.

Yes everyone in on facebook will be at least a billionaire Friday. About like the ira folks sitting around taking our money. Been in it 10 years and it is not worth #10,000 If I kept my apple shares they would be worth $400,000 and that was less than 10 years ago. Seeing a problem here.

I am waiting on $25/sh on FB... Give it a few given the european mess, and we should be there... My little play portfolio has dropped about 12% in the past few weeks, but I probably would have lost half of that to taxes if I had tabbed out and gone to cash only...
Craps in Vegas is starting to look less risky...

Looks like they may take it to $15 or less. Would like to buy more but F, gmcr,znga are down just as bad so I can`t sell anything. Should have stayed with apple google and amazon. Amazing if you want a stock to crash let me know I will buy some of it. The banks scare me too changing a cd from .015% interest to 1 and 3/4% Friday so maybe the economy is getting better. Have to leave it there for 4 years so it won`t be better soon.

The banks scare me too changing a cd from .015% interest to 1 and 3/4% Friday so maybe the economy is getting better. Have to leave it there for 4 years so it won`t be better soon.

Sounds like someone bought big on fb today. Heard you might be able to get the stock certificates mark them not for sale some how and still be able to sell. They have Yuckermans signature and some have fancy art work and can be worth more than the stock. Going to check but probably won`t be able to get them. An up day hope it keeps going that way. Went to school with a girl in real estate and the houses are selling higher around here.

Looks like the bottom is in. Hopefully for the whole market. They are lifting the bank preferreds. I love my bank: Symbol ALLY-B, or ALLYPRB on morningstar.

With CD's your money is insured by the government.
Those bank preferreds are paying about 9.5%
I consider myself the "insurance company" and do my own credit rating on the banks.

That is the trouble with ameritrade you can`t buy preferred stocks. Did get a dividend one time though but not sure how that happened. Ford is supposed to be paying one now will have to see if it shows up on the statement.

Try GS-B. The dash means preferred. Goldman Sachs Preffered B shares pay about 6.19% right now. It's almost a good deal because they have real good credit. I would wait for a dip.
