I have been online trying to find my next best friend. Two months after I started, I found this intriguing woman whose profile said she lived near me. All I did was send her a message asking if she was interested in starting a relationship with me. She asked about my high school and wanted to know about my children. I asked her if she smoked and attended church in my city. Next thing I know, we are talking about our interests in 80's music and artwork. I have met her children still living with her, and she has seen mine. From our interest in the 80's, we have developed a code for communicating online. I'll tell her a song lyric and she knows what I am feeling. From our experience at church, we have developed an inside joke that we constantly talk about. We have a strong bond and an open line of communication.
I keep telling her that I am being myself when I compliment her on her motivation, her dependability, her ingenuity, her attractiveness, and her specialties. She asks me questions, and I give her honest answers and she knows I am telling her the truth so she has taken down some of her walls and has a lot of trust in me now. She has also started crying when I talk to her on the phone because she says that no man has ever made her feel so important. She has helped me realize how strong I am and has helped me revisit the person I used to be.
We have worked so hard to build trust in each other and she has allowed me to get to know her children.
I have had the opportunity to influence her son to keep pursuing his interests and he talks to me like a friend now. Her daughter smiles at me whenever I see them.
From one of our conversations, she mentioned that she could see a made-for-television series about us since I gave her a nickname. I have taken her idea and am writing about our experiences.
