I ran across a lady at the food bank where I help out who wanted some gifts for ladies at a nursing home for Christmas. One if the ideas we came up with was walker bags. I got the idea of using cloth napkins that I got for $.50 a piece in a bin at a discount curtain store. I added some lace, buttons a voila!
I take the napkins, cut off 2" from the tops and use them for straps. You could also use a heavy lace or ribbon. I use velcro for fasteners.
What do you think? And, do you have any suggestions.
For wheelchairs, just extend the length of the straps to 20".

That's a great idea. But let's not forget about those who use walkers or wheelchairs and live at home. A lot of them use public transportation and could really use something like that.

Very good idea! Id worry about how things held up to wear and tear, but really like your idea.

I'm an HHA working with seniors and Alzheimer clients with wheelchairs and walkers on a daily basis. Those look pretty but are thin and really would not hold up long to use. A doubled thickness or just heavier fabric to begin with would be great. Multiple pockets for walkers helpful.

Thanks for your input. I had, at one point, thought of lining them. Any suggestions on what to line them with? I also have some placemats that are heavier, they are actually a tapestry material. Any suggestions on fabric types would be much appreciated. The one I'm currently working on has side panels, so has depth and is made of corduroy.
These are heavy linen napkins so are actually much heavier than some of the walker bags I've seen in the past. The one someone gave me about 5 years ago was made of a material similar to pillow case material. I didn't use it for more than a year because I got better, so I passed it on.
